Malto, as you have met Eddie Giacomin, thought I'd share this story with you. His older brother Rolly had been scouted by the Rangers and invited to join them at training camp. In the Interim, Rolly landed a dream job at Inco. A position that guaranteed him a good salary in a dream job. He told Eddie he couldn't risk going to to the tryouts because he could lose his job, so he gave Eddie his train tickets and said you go in my place and give it your best shot. The rest of it as they say is history.
I had a great hockey playoff time this year. A friend of my who scouts for Chicago picked me up to go and see games three and four of the wings series in Chicago. After this I skipped down to see friends in North Carolina. One of them is center ice camera man for the Canes, so he go me to great tickets for the last Cane's game. While in raleigh I hooked up with a friend and old colleague from the CBC. He wasn't going to games three and four of the final in Pittsburgh, so had his accreditation switched to me. After taking all that in I thought I was hockied out so went to visit my brother in law in Montreal. He owns a play it again sports store across from the Ray Borque arena/ His name is mickey lalong, he has a degree in sports education, administration and is a title three coach. He also scouts for the Canadiens. As well he owns a specialized hockey training center and conditioning center. He's been very worried since the start of the recession. Sales at play it again sports were off 60 per cent and he was afraid he would have to shutdown the story. His eight year old grandson was listening and said "pa Pere, why don't you just cut the store in half?
What the kid meant was put the two together. Out of the mouths of babes eh"
With permission of the Landlord he pt up a wall reducing the square footage of the store in half and moved the sports conditioning center into the other half. Grand reopening for both is next Tuesday. That's my offseason hockey and non football related things that make my day stories all wrapped up in on. Hope all is well with everyone. Wings signed Jason Williams to a one year 1.5 million dollar contract.

I remember being pissed that Mike Foligno didn't win rookie of the year. I thought it was Red Wing bias that gave it to some guy in Boston named Ray Borque. What can I say? I was pretty young.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
