Well, and I know people are going to call me an Ozzie hater for this, but when you have Osgood in goal, it's not that surprising.

In a scenario where one mistake, one mental lapse, is the difference between winning and losing; to have a goaltender infamous for his brain burps would not lend itself to winning hockey in those conditions.

Cleary, Sammy and Huds are all playing really great hockey.

The Wings are really something else. To have a team like this during a salary cap era after all those years of trading away picks for rentals at the trade deadline says a lot for our front office. We're really spoiled. I love it.

We deserve to be spoiled. We bear the burden of the Lions.

BTW, I had to get ready and leave for work. My son called me while enroute on my cell to let me know Samulson scored the game winner.

That game was huge! Chicago now needs to win 4 out of 5. The Wings looked a bit tired, as the Hawks totally dominated the first period with hitting and scoring chances. Funny how they can be so physical without elbows to the head, crosschecks, etc. Need to get rid of them A.S.A.P. for potential rematch with Penguins. The league will do all it can to promote and support David over Goliath.

Now that there is a new stadium and the fact that Illitch has ties to Motor City Casino, I do not see him being even eligible to purchase an NFL franchise.

I did not expect to see the game go into OT or for the Hawks to be still hanging around late in the third. Cudos to them. They are a talented bunch.

I love that Versus has Ed Olczyk as the analyst for this series. He was the master of ceremony during Tony Esposito Night at the United Center last year when I went to see Ovechkin. Chicago boy Eddie really let his love for the Hawks show that evening. You know last night was a dagger for him.

Agreed. If the Blackhawks somehow manage to tie this series 2-2 by winning both their home games, then we are in for a real fight...

Semi-OT: Does anyone else think the Free Press generally sucks as a newspaper, but has vastly better sports coverage than the Detroit News? I would prefer to spend my time reading the Detroit News coverage online (I live in Florida, so online is really my only option), but their sports coverage sucks, in my opinion.

Worrying about giving the Hawks bulletin board material is solely in the province of the Red Wings. Its not a concern for the Free press. Nor should it be.

Anyway, the Wings are talented enough to overcome this gigantic error in judgement by the editors of the Detroit Free Press.

Marion Illitch is the one that has ties to the Casino. Its a bit slippery but I think its the reason her name is not on instead of him. I am pretty sure that 1 if not both of the NHL and MLB would have issues with him being part owner of the Casino. If its his name and his holding companies that had ownership of the Lions and not Marion's then I don't think there would be an issue.
