    • Have to give a lot of credit to Blashill. He keeps sending up players ready to contribute at the NHL level.

      • Gotta also give credit to the guy(s) who drafts the talent to be developed.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

          True statement on both counts.

Speaking of Blashill, if Babcock leaves in the summer for Toronto will he be named coach or will they go with an outsider?
          F#*K OHIO!!!

            • Yeah i dont think any of us saw him going 8-1 with Howard out.....I dont know if this team is championship caliber but they have played well this year.

              • They're as champion caliber as any team in the Eastern Conference. Nashville is really the only team that stands out to me right now, and even then, not by much.

Several were not his fault, but didn't face that many shots...

                  • If we could land Mike Green in the off season I think we'll be a serious threat next year. They won't trade him right now being in the hunt and will want an arm and leg for him if they do especially to an east conf team.

That's not to say we're not a contender right now but our defense is like the bad news bears (the bears at the start of the movie not the end).

I still can't believe how many young players we've developed and are on the horizon. i just wish we could fast forward the young defensemen's development and have them be playoff ready now. We're spoiled as Wings fans with how quickly Holland and Co restocked without doing it via trades and FA. Can you imagine if we'd have kept Flippula or just saved the Weiss money? We still have 8 million in cap space right now

                    • The rumors are Green is available for trade right now.

                      • No way would they trade him to an eastern conf team. Especially us.

I'd take him but I'd personally rather not give up too much for him and send him the bank in FA. Although he is still relatively young

                        • I saw this the other day when Fedorov got inducted into the Michigan HoF.

Fedorov Says Red Wings Retiring His Number Would Be A Great Honor: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2015/02/...a-great-honor/

I think the Wings should retire his number. He was a big part of the Wings 3 championships.

                          • The fans would rather celebrate a degenerate deadbeat asshole with grit and minimal talent than one of the best two way players of his era.

.....so with this insightful thought, really, who is it the fans would rather see have his number retired?

Go to the Joe and take a straw poll. I'd bet money the fans would sooner see 25 retired than 91... and it wouldn't be all that close.
