Got a little nervous at the end when they pulled to within one but the Wings shut it down. Husso made some great stops and DeBrincat looks really good.

It sure doesnt seem like the Wings had to give up much to get him...im surprised they parted with him.

Well, you can thank DeBrincat for that. Once he made it clear that the only team he was going to entertain signing an extension with was the Red Wings, Ottawa kinda lost a bit of leverage.

This all day long. It finally flips the script for the Wings. We’ve been on the wrong side of these trades for a few years now. Sending out NHL players for picks that might one day turn into an NHL player.

The only difference is that DeBrincat is really really good. We’ve sent out players but this kid is a legit all star talent. The only thing I pray the Wings add is someone that can protect them. He’s not a big. We don’t need a full time enforcer but having someone to insert in the lineup every now and again sends a message

Wings are 4-1. Nice start. And the power play is clicking. I would still like to see some better defense but this has been good so far. And good to see them handle Ottawa.
