    There was a great article in Freep or Detnews today about how we should have rebuilt in 2012 after Lidstrom left. Now we are stuck in this fucking mess with "day old flowers" according to the article.

    Yet another FA spurns us in the parity era. Nobody gives a fuck about "original 6." It's 2016 and the 31st franchise is going to be in Vegas! There's a cap now and we are just another NHL franchise among soon to be 31 teams.

    Rebuild.

      Holland doesn't believe in rebuilding. In hindsight, he should have ate the contract and drafted Jacob Chychrun. Roll out the Red carpet for your newest Red Wing David Backes!

            What a sad state FA in the NHL. If you don't draft well these days your f'd.

            We're drafting pretty good over the last few years and developed some decent forwards but all the days of dealing picks are catching up to us with Dats and Z aged and gone.

                6 year contract for 32 year old Nielson. Hey, why not learn from the Datsuk contract? So we have this guy on our cap through his age 38 season. Let's all remember you are stuck with a contract no matter what when a guy is 35.

                      I was under the impression that contracts signed after the player reaches the age of 35 are guaranteed. Not guaranteed once they reach the age of 35.
                      I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
