On another note: Rumor that Detroit may be interested in trading Nyquist and other prospects for Rick Nash.
Haven't really thought about this one much..... but could be interesting depending on the prospects. Wouldn't want to give up an major prospects with Nyquist for him.... more like the Sproul/Lashoff/Nastasiuk or possibly Callahan prospects. If Detroit was to include either Kindl or Weiss in it as well I probably be okay with it.
Not a fan.
Nash had his chance to come to Detroit but he opted otherwise. Fine. No hard feelings. No need to bring him in three years later when he is getting a bit long in the tooth.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
Are other teams actually willing to trade for Weiss? I just don't see it.
Reminds me of when Pistons fans would call into local radio stations and suggest the Pistons trade Terry Mills and Lindsay Hunter for Chris Webber (in his prime).
They're having a press conference tomorrow to announce Blashill as the next Red Wings coach. I hope they didn't pull a Lions move and just ignore all other candidates.

I think it might be fine if your promoting within.....I could be wrong though
Holland said he wasn't going to conduct a full scale search, he had three candudates in mind. If the Lions said it, I'd have a problem but with the Wings I cut them slack. Plus, I'm not sure there are any slam dunk hockey coaches.
I don't think there's a better choice out there with Blashill developing most of these young guys at GR and having a ton of success there. There will be growing pains for sure while he gets accustomed to the NHL but this is one time I like hiring the "up and coming" coach.
F#*K OHIO!!!

Nash would still be the best player in that trade by a long shot but I'd prefer to have gotten him a couple years ago. It would have been a no brainer then. He's on the wrong side of 30 and our glaring need is defense. We need defense above all others.
Weren't they trying to trade for him a few years ago but Columbus was asking for Dats and Z.

And turning 31 in a few days. Again, I'd love to have him on our team but defense is where we're severely deficient.

Nash doesn't show up when it counts. I know he's a good player, but I don't like guys who shrink under pressure. To give up younger/cheaper talent for a guy like that is a risky move.
