taking his list of young prospects? lol.. he better take our scout team with him especially the Euro's..

chicago has some decent young talent (because they've been drafting in the top 10 since Clintons first term in office) so its not a stretch to say they can eventually make the playoffs. They're arent gonna be the next Pens anytime soon.
    F#*K OHIO!!!

Last I heard, he spent significant time in Sweden, Finland, and even made a trip to Russia last year scouting.

Don't underestimate his ability to identify the needs to beat his biggest competition and exploit their weaknesses.

The Hawks do have to get through Detroit to get to the finals but that does not mean there might not be a year that Detroit gets bounced prior to meeting the Hawks. While Detroit has a wonderful history and is loaded with talent, they also have a history of underperforming in the playoffs.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

He didn't do much as the GM in Buffalo. Bowman was at his best behind the bench.

Heh, heh. You make it sound like the Wings are in the finals every year. Forget all those first round exits?

            • You can't go wrong adding a Scotty Bowman to any organization. Chicago has been a train wreck of an organization for a long time. When you add quality hockey people to a front office it is bound to get much better.

They were his 5th team. St. Louis, Montreal, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Detroit.

Scotty turns 75 next month. I say hopefully that he won't have too much influence on the Blackhawks. I went to a Hawks game last winter. It was Tony Esposito night and they had a sellout crowd. They are very optimistic about the direction of the team since Bill Wirtz died. An usher told me that before Bill Wirtz died he made his son Peter the new owner, and Peter promised he'd continue to blackout home games. When the old man died shortly thereafter, Peter handed the reins over to brother Rocky who made no such promise to dad. Result: Blackhawks fans finally get to watch home games on television.

                      • I kind of wish the Blackhawks do become good. Its always good to have anither team to root against. Red Wing/Blackhawk games have been dull the last 10-15 years.

MM do you watch hockey? Did you watch the dismantling of everyone we played last year? This team isnt the same team as the stuck up prima dona teams of the past. Babcock has this team playing like the opposition slept with their wives and kicked their dogs.

They're young. They're talented. They play their asses off and they're Champions. Act like you're a Wings fan for Stevie Y's sake.

                          • And they were healthy. You have to be healthy or you won't be dominating. Ken Holland stresses this many times and the general public doesn't heed this. A lot of the teams that have had early exits also had some big injuries. Datsyuk, Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov to name a few have had really bad injuries that cost them time. Two years in a row, they lost Yzerman for the playoffs in series they were in and he was their best player, they then went on to lose the series. The year before they didn't have Kronwall and then they lost Schneider. One year they lost Osgood and Essensa stunk up the joint.

Conversely, the 4 times they've won the cup they have been relatively healthy. Most times they haven't lost many more man-games than what you can count on one hand.

                            You have to be healthy.

                            • Yeah I forgot about losing Schneider in 07. That was such a huge blow to them team. He was playing great at the time too.

3 Cups in 11 years. Man thats horrible.

                              • No its 4 cups in 11 years. But that means that they've failed 7 times in 11 years. Your post that Malto Mark criticized acted like the parade is already preordained. It isn't, and those prior teams were prima donnas either. You should act like a Wings fan for Stevie Y's sake. Winning a Stanley Cup is hard, just because they didn't win doesn't mean they were stuck up prima donnas, it means that winning a Stanley Cup is hard.
