Well if we offered 8 million in the first year and the remaining 3 years would be at 4.75.... then there would be no problems with that because we aren't breaching the 50% mark. They could even go lower on his second year in order to have enough cap space for Datsyuk & Filppula, while rasing it up 35% each consecutive year.

    • The more I look at tape of this guy, and the more I learn about the contract he wants as opposed to what Montreal is willing to give.... I say the Wings should go for it. Either they give up 1 & 3 draft picks for some new young talent on the back end who can really help the Power Play unit or nothing changes at all and Montreal matches the contract..... which will also mean they have to cut/trade some people.
The only concern is his character off the ice, but I think the Wings coaching staff and leadership in the locker room will keep him in line if he is a selfish person. Holland should jump on it.

That's the thing though...Holland doesn't "poach" other teams' RFAs.

Hoping we try to offer sheet him is just wasteful/wishful thinking...the only way we would get him is if we traded for his rights.

        • Ericsson out, Kindl to IR, Lashoff in tonight.

Well there has been this beat writer for the last 3 years who just keeps praising Lashoff as the second coming of Brad Stuart so we'll see what he's got. As long as he is better than the pylon Quincey I will be happy.

              • Well, the sky is not falling after all :-). Columbus is not that bad a team, every single Red Wing looked much better. My DVR ran out during the shoot out, so I missed Brunners goal, but gladly take the win.

It was filthy, what a shame your DVR cut it off.

Does that sound like a dog saying uh-oh? Because that's what I was going for.

Due to CC injuring his shoulder last night, Ken Holland is trying to finalize a signing for a veteran Defenceman right now in time for the home opener tonight and I am about to pull out my rosary and keep praying that it is not Lilja.

The only person I can think of who would help us out and is a right handed shot to boot is Pavel Kubina...although he is a little old I would rather have him than Lilja, Lebda, Commodore, or any other shitty d-man KH likes to keep bringing back to the team.

                        • I forgot about him,

yeah Kubina wouldn't have made sense because Kenny said the guy would play tonight and Kubina is still in Czech Rep.

Also, the wings recalled Gus Nyqvist to play tonight with Flip and Mule...Samuelsson is out with a groin injury (thank the lord).
