That game was too close for comfort. Our top 2 lines played great when they needed to but that 3rd line has been garbage. I know its early in the season and they're still learning to play with each other but they havent even put up quality scoring chances. Modano has been a little sloppy and Huds is totally out of sync. I think Cleary is playing well. Its just the other 2.
Makes you wonder whats going to happen when Abdlkader comes back because the 4th line is doing there jobs. Helm aint sitting and neither is Miller and Eaves who are playing really well for their roles.
F#*K OHIO!!!
You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.
As much as I hate the Ducks, ANA isnt shitty at all. Far from it. They have some great forwards. The thing they lack is the quaterback on the back end. They lost worldclass D over the last 2 seasons. Finding a replacement for Neidemeyer is the key to that team.
Selenne made Howard look silly last night on the 5 hole goal. Besides the stupid jump to the Avs that dude has had an unbelievable career.
This is def not a team I'd want to see in the 1st round.

I was happy to Lija out on the ice, you just knew da wings were gonna score
hahahaha.. yeah no kidding. It was nice seeing him failing to clear the puck on a different team.

"(Then) two players collide in the middle of the ice, (Johan) Franzen and Corey Perry, we get a penalty for it. I'm just sick of it in this building."
The Ducks, the most-penalized team in the NHL, are still upset that they got only one power play, to Detroit's six, in the Red Wings' 4-0 season-opening win here on Oct. 8.
"This is the building, seriously, I never have seen any other building ... '' Selanne said. "I'd like to see the stats if it's ever happened that the visiting team's going to get more power plays than home team. It is a joke. As long as I have played here, it's always happened. You almost know. They get at least three power plays every first period." -------------------------HeHeHe.
I agree that they REALLY got hosed on the Perry elbow.. That was a horrid call but thats like the Bad Boys back in the day complaining about bad calls against them. That last game here at JLA was a goonfest because they were getting their asses handed to them so they wanted to take it out on our players.
I can see the refs calling it tight on them at the begining to show them that shit wont be tolerated.

I knew you were and its because you know how true the whining is about officiating in all sports that echoes out of MI so you thought you would play that angle 180. Wasn't funny though.
As for the game, even when it was 3-1, I knew ANA would find a way to make it a game again. Its their new m.o. (since PRONGER and NEIDS checked out).
I will share this though, the one thing in all of the NHL that I can't stand the most are those joke and in my opinion, ILLEGAL, back boards on the DET ice. What a FN joke. The boards are GD trampolines. No where else is it that obviously set up to be like a trampoline.
Dude, boards have been that way in Detroit since Gordie Howe and the Production line.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
Yeah I've read those the last couple days and was more then entertained. I'll prob buy the book.
Did you read the one yesterday where he said the first time he ever drank was at 14? He said he drank like 4 beers in a row before anything kicked in. At that age I hated even taking a sip.

I will expound.
When it was decided it was time to move from the Olympia to a new venue, there were several items that the new Arena must have.
1) Ice surface. Olympia ice was regarded as being the best in the league. They did not want to change that. The same company that put in the pipes at Olympia was contracted for JLA. They were successful in getting it right. (FTR, my home ice arena also used the same company when our arena was built in 1972. The system cost an extra 125K from the rate of the going systems that were being installed at the time. Go figure.......the politicians gave a sweetheart lease for a company to run the Arena and the taxpayers got hosed for the additional cost of the most important part of a non professional Arena)
2) Boards must be "lively" in the corners and the ends (this was not easy as the materials being used at the time were somewhat universal. They had to change the boards several times to achieve the desired "livelyness").
3) Boxes must be installed to provide a corporate atmosphere.
4) Rest rooms must be plentiful especially women's as the older arenas did not address the females adequately.
All were achieved and at the time, it was state of the art. Since it was City owned, they went on the cheap with repairs and upgrades and now is totally outdated. Except the ice surface and the boards.
Funny how the Wings can go on the road and still win.......with dead boards.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
