I agree Tampa is a great city. It's just not a great hockey city. I dont see that franchise doing anything.

You do not need to be a great hockey city to have a hockey team that plays great hockey.

Trust me. If they start getting deep into the playoffs, ticket sales will be good.

You just need to look at Jacksonville to see that a city originally not interested or small can still support a pro-football team. But its a razors edge thing in football. Probably would be for Tampa in Hockey as well. Its all good when their winning but people abandon it in droves as soon as they don't.

But even in big cities that can be the Case. The only thing the Lions really have going for them is that they have been part of Detroit for almost a century. Eventually the losing catches up and while they are not going broke. We can't fill one of the smallest venues in the NFL.

Your right it should be easier to field a Hockey team. Jacksonville doesn't even have enough locals to fill the stadium if they all had season tickets. That isn't a problem in Tampa for the Lightning. All they need to do is win and people will come. That pretty much holds true for all of hockey outside the original 6.
