The Red Wings weren't jobbed. They played like shit and got beat by a team that played better than them.

I will take issue with one thing chemiclord said about the Sharks playing the wings game the penalties getting turned around. The Wings were not dominating the puck like they used to and that does tend to get more penalties when you are chasing them around. The one thing I take issue with is the thought that the other teams were piling up penalties back when the wings were doing it. As much as I can recall they were not calling penalties at the clip that they are calling now. The refs didn't want to affect the game, which Wing fans would counter that they were affecting the game by not calling penalties.
Whatever, they need to get better defensively like Malto Mark said.

That posters name should read Quintessential MI.SPORTSFAN.
Blame the refs.
Btw, kudos to several RW fans in here that are choosing not to blame the officiating, this year.
As for the Wings, bungholes!
You let the GUPPIES get past you.
Now I have to freaking root for a team I have forever loathed in the BLACKHAWKS.
My former roommate from 20 years ago is going to be pleased to know that I am rooting for his team this round.

This is hardly new by any stretch of the imagination.

What you say might be true, it didn't really bear out in the penalties assessed in the playoffs. Refs had a amazing tendency to dole equal amounts of power plays. It was more of perception that reality in PIM. This is playoffs only discussion. They definitely did enjoy an advantage in the regular season. I just think they are calling a lot more penalties in the playoffs, that was one of the main gripes about the NHL previously, they called a different game come playoff time. You'd see a lot of games with 1 or two PPs for the whole game. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. One of the Wings achilles heel that two playoffs is their horrid PK. If the league is going to keep on calling penalties in the playoffs they way they have this year, improvement in this area is priorty #2 after getting Lidstrom to come back.

Nick Lidstrom 'will be back' Wings coach Mike Babcock says
Let me make this perfectly clear (2 finger peace signs) Im not saying the Wings would have won the series, just would have like to see an even playing field. I have no hate for either SH or Chicago I hope one of them wins. The Blackhawks are an original 6 so it would not be to bad, just as long as the Canadians (hated them since I can remember) or Cindy don't win im fine.

I miss the old NHL. Power play was a treasure. Not the norm. I miss hockey on other channels besides VS. I miss the physical play vs this speed / smaller guy game that they now have. The shootout is cool in regular season , but the 4 on 4 period is fucking retarded.
NBA teams should just have some one on one if they go in OT.AAL - Glover Quinn

All that aside I am proud to be a Wings fan. They put together a steak to make the playoffs. Love how they integrate youth with playoff experience. They were not even supposed to be in it this year. They could have went with Ossie, but they went with the untested rookie and planned for the future. Lions could learn a lot from the team down the road. Also, Howard stood on his head the last game. Gotta score more than one goal to win come playoffs.AAL - Glover Quinn

Montreal is look to force a game 7, Philly is forcing a game 6. Chicago is in a dogfight with Vancouver. There is no clear cut team above everyone else. This was not our best Red Wing team, but with the parody in the NHL now we could have went to the finals again. That was my disappointment.
It seemed Howard played well, but not well enough to win, he should be better next year with this years experience under his belt. Im confident in Kenny Holland to bring in a couple players with some extra $$$ we have and if Lidstrom is willing to take a pay cut (not like Yzerman one mil a year) to around 4 million that would help too. .

Well, Montreal did it they force a game 7 with Pittsburgh! The team with the least amount of points entering the playoffs. I doubt if they can stun the Pens and Cindy at Pittsburgh.
note: By the way, I forgot my post above we will have Jiri Hudler back.
