  • Philly signs Hossa

    Comment

    • Incorrect, Hossa went to the Blackhawks... a 12-year deal, at that.

      • They signed Kopecky also.

        • Thanks for correcting me Chemy.....I knew that, Just not sure where my head was when posting..........Actually, I don't mind losing him or kopecky....

          • Hossa was pretty much the guy that saved the regular season. His offense kept the Wings from badly treading water a couple times.

But he was mostly invisible in the playoffs, especially when Datsyuk was out and he got more defensive attention. He didn't play badly, but I don't think the Wings will be hurting terribly that he went somewhere else.

Hell, Chicago might just be ecstatic that they've just guaranteed they'll lose in the Stanley Cup Final...

I saw the opposite with Hossa during the play-offs. I think he was doing great, while not scoring many goals but once Datsyuk came back he kind o faded away.

              • Hossa forced the play far too much with Datsyuk out. He took on the responsibility of taking the puck into the zone and often held onto it too long. His best shots in the playoffs came with Datsyuk as his distributor.

                • With over half the teams making the playoffs in each conference, the players need to make their money in the playoffs. Hossa didn't do that. I'm not really disappointed that he is gone but going to Chicago could hurt. The Wings will be fine.

I agree with chemi. From what I saw, he skated around the offensive zone often turning the puck over after holding onto it for so long. Just take a shot every once in a while would have been nice.

                  • Chicago lost Khabibulin to Edmonton, so Huet better step up. Plus they will have a hard time next year with the cap and their 3 young stars all coming due for new contracts.

                    • I don't necessarily like losing Hossa, but it should help in the long run. Tough to wrap up that much money in a guy who is known for underachieving in the playoffs. Wings need improvement on defense. I thought he may stay since his stated goal is the Stanley Cup, but I think he is most concerned with money. Chicago just did to Wings what the Wings did to Pittsburgh last year. I hope the results are similar.

Huet does not give them Cup winning goaltending......
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

If I'm not mistaken the team that lost Hossa won the Stanley cup.

                              • Chicago is gonna be really tough if they get some goaltending.

I'm hoping we add someone like Chris Neil or anyone else with some gritt and fighting skills.
