  • Rocky Bleier doesn't mind Osgood playing the puck. Rocky Bleier would like him to stop handing it to the opposing team. He was okay last night.

    • I thought the commentators were saying previously that Osgood had to watch playing the puck because he was getting close to getting a penalty.

------------------------No we just lost. I will say this. I thought the Wings would lose last night because I thought the Pens would throw everything they had at them. If that was everything they had they won't win another game. The Wings haven't even played up to their potential yet.

        Wings in 5.

I thought it was because he was turning it over. Oh well. It was one night.

No, they haven't. It would be nice if they started now, but I don't think they will until they get rested and healthy, which doesn't happen until next season. The next two games are Thursday and Saturday. This schedule is brutal.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game and was coming in to see if you guys thought the officiating slanted the game.

This post by Dano answered my thought before really asking it.

Should I continue to believe that the loss was nothing more than a speedbump for DET on its way to repeating?

            Good luck.

            • Game 4 will determine everything. I think the Wings fare a little better on the calls, but they've been beatable all 3 games. The way to beat the Wings hasn't changed - get the puck deep. Got to stay out of the box. Would be nice if Hossa started scoring. If Datsyuk returns that will give Zetterberg a break.

              • Even Babcock said the Wings should have gotten some more calls go their way, and he rarely says anything like that. I thought Ericsson definitely interferred, but it was happening the whole game and then it's called with 8 minutes to go in a tie game. That's when you have to wonder what's going on. Forwards are getting held up on both sides. Kunitz cross-checks Franzen in the head - no call. Then the Ericson penalty. I expect the refs will call more against the Pens tomorrow as payback.

                • It was in that sweet spot of when they will call a penalty like that. 10 minutes left, if its 5 minutes, they won't call it. But the penalty was pretty blatant, and an unnecessary penalty by Ericsson. Move your feet, turn and get to the puck.

                  • It was stupid and unnecessary. As he was doing it I was yelling "NO!" and I wondered what was going through his head.

                    • I was thinking, " Please don't call it, please don't call it".

I know the line if thinking is that the Penguims were doing the same type of thing and that they haven't been calling it this series, but I don't know that any of the ones that they haven't called were as blatant as this one. The refs don't seem to be calling interference if you can hide well enough. That was textbook interference with no attempt to hide it.

It certainly wasn't a shaky call like the Datsyuk interference call in the 2007 Ducks series.

                      • PITTSBURGH – The Detroit Red Wings not only expect to have Pavel Datsyuk back for the Stanley Cup final, there’s a very good chance he will suit up Thursday night for Game 4.

Datsyuk has missed the first three games of the Stanley Cup final and the past six with a foot injury he sustained during the Western Conference final, but a source close to the Wings said if Datsyuk doesn’t play in Game 4, he’ll definitely go in Game 5.

The Wings take to the ice at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday and Datsyuk will practise with the team. He is expected to be evaluated after that practice and the morning skate Thursday before a final decision is made. There is no doubt he is very close to getting back into the lineup.

Having Datsyuk would be an obvious boon to the Red Wings and would almost certainly take some of the defensive responsibility away from Henrik Zetterberg, who has been closely checking Sidney Crosby in this series.

                          • I saw nothing wrong with the officiating last night sans the obvious gaffe with to many men on the ice. Didn't cost them anything at the time.

                            • The stick to the head of the wings leading scorer seemed like a missed call too.

                              • Didn't cost them anything at the time? They should have had a powerplay. Not too long afterward, Pittsburgh get a PP and scores. It cost them plenty.

Other than that, I had no prroblem with the officiating.
