You all are still butt hurt from the play against SF.

Vildor is fine for what the Lions want him to do. If they move on and let him go, fine. If not, fine.

Too much wasted energy on an end of the bench special teamer.

Backups generally don't get ranked unless they are pressed for duty like Vildor was. You don't get ranked unless you get qualifying snaps. If any 4th or 5th CB on a roster gets pressed into duty they are going to have that type of ranking.

Of course it doesn't make it true. No one in their right mind would think such. How silly of you to think said. If it would help I can annotate my posts for you.

Long true story short......, it is 1996, Bentleys Bar in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh, (the bar has a different name now) ...., myself and 3 buddies are in the large, very smart, basement room for the Euro 96, Scotland v England game...... place is packed out.

....Gazza scores to make it 2-0 England.

Scotland boss, Craig Brown brings on Darren Jackson. Someone in the bar, "AWWWW JACKSON IS PISH!"

..... a HUGE fight broke out in that basement. ---->>> Scotland getting pumped by the auld enemy and the fans are all punching lumps out of each other.

I have a theory that Braveheart is not accurate.

William Wallace: "Ok, listen up. I am putting Wee Boaby in charge of the group."
Random voice; "AWWW WEE BOABY SUCKS!"

Scottish all punching fuck out of each other in a muddy field......., English wade in and take over.

Ye see, Mel......, the film could've been condensed massively.

I had an Irish professor in college who once (partly) joked that the biggest reason why the English wound up dominating the isles was because they were the only people on the whole damn set of rocks who could stand being in the same room with each other for longer than fifteen minutes.

This is the funniest topic around here lately, hands down. Some people are just so mad at Vildor, but not at all the backup 3rd/4th string defensive linemen pressed into action that sucked against the Commanders. (Never mind that the QB had 5 turnovers).

If you want to make that deep CB position a raw, UDFA prospect, that's fine. But don't expect it to improve the performance if that player gets pressed into playing a lot of snaps. Coaches find value in having guys that deep on the depth chart that know the scheme and don't have to get a ton of snaps each week (because in most cases they won't get those snaps). And to start the season, the Lions top 4 CBs were all new to the scheme and two of them were rookies.

Some of the disconnect is the special teams snaps. Nobody pays attention to special teams unless there is a screw up. The coaches pay attention though. The Lions for most of the season were the #1 rated special teams unit, I'm not sure how it ended up after the injuries messed up the roster but the Lions were winning the field position battle and it was a hidden advantage. Vildor was 6th on the team with 221 special team snaps (Vaki was #1).

Even when Emmanuel Moseley was healthy, he was inactive because he didn't play special teams.

Vildor seeing significant snaps is a symptom of a problem, not the actual problem itself

Maybe the d coord can practice some zone looks. You dont want Vildor or any late season reserve playing press man vs starting WR.

Happened a few seasons now and I am sure they thought about it. Lions just need to stay healthy.

But F Vildor for his negative awareness on the helmet play. He was in position for that one and could not have screwed it up more.

The Lions played a lot of zone in the Commanders game, all teams play zone even if they are man heavy. The issue is personnel, some guys are better suited for one of the other and you go out and get those players. It's hard to change up late in the year. Most of all the real practice on defensive concepts happens in OTAs, mini-camps and training camps. It is hard to change up things by the end of the season. You get basically two practices during the week where one involves hitting. It's not a lot of time.

One thing that sticks out is in 2024 the Lions had two UDFA corners in camp Gilmore and Star Thomas and they picked Gilmore and tried to sneak Thomas onto the PS. It didn't work because Arizona claimed him and he has been pretty decent for the Cardinals. Gilmore never did much but we can keep an eye on him for the Birmingham Stallions this spring.
