  • Good, bad, ugly, season done,

I usually don't start threads but I will start this unpopular one.
    Washington kicked out ass tonight.
Think we got a little cute .
Goff wasn't his best when everyone around him was gaming.
Monty got too many chances that Gibbs should have had, but Cambell was going to win or lose doing what he does.
Would like a do over but it might not matter.
    Disappointed as a mutha....
If it ever does happen for the Lions it still probably won't change our lives, Redwings, tigers, pistons winning never made me rich or got me laid more,

Lions had too many key defensive injuries for me to think they'd win it all. Healthy? I would've bet on it.
WHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

PS_ I don't think Johnson or Glenn are going anywhere. Unless it is for money. Neither are head coaches imo. If they leave they are losers...

Lions are losers now. but I don't think they always will be.

I think if Hutch doesn't get hurt it's a different season. They lost the aura a bit and started looking vulnerable ... Minnesota just couldn't handle the blitz that's why they got thru that

I think if Glenn can generate a pass rush with just the 4 DL, then he can play the man to man that he likes.....The defense just had too many injuries to overcome in the long run....and then the only good corner they had left was knocked out on the 2nd play of the game....This will be an interesting offseason....The Lions have alot of free agents (that definitely wont be free)...I can see a few of them coming back on one year deals, but Brad is going to have to make some tough decisions.......I dont know if the coordinators come back or not....This has to leave a bitter taste in their mouth but if the offers are not there, then they will be back.

No coach who leaves to be a head coach is a loser, that's silly.

Ultimately, the Commanders were more patient. They were willing and able to do the 15 play drive, the Lions couldn't and were looking for all the haymakers. That's why you are doing Jameson Williams trick plays down 10. You have a great set of weapons and they couldn't touch Gibbs, but sometimes you need to aggressively take what the defense gives you and the Lions failed at that

The biggest thing that sucks is the Lions invested heavily in the secondary last year, adding two
Vets and drafting corners in the first two rounds. And it was awesome the first half of the season. By the 4th quarter they had a true PS player at safety and were Vildor on the outside. The secondary was in worse shape than it was for the San Fran game

Monty didn't rush too much Goff coughed up the ball too much and the defense did almost as close to nothing as possible.

game ball Bates, Skipper and Ragnow

Lions were going to need to play near flawless on offense come playoff time - they turned it over 5 times.
Winnable game other than that - even with a MASH unit on defense.
Live by the sword, die by the sword. Can't complain, just sucks.

Bad - Goff with a consecutive poor performance. People just poo pooed his pedestrian if not bad outing vs. the Vikes and then this..... sorry for all the apologists on here. Goff choked and is a concern for me at least moving forward.

Ugly - Lions nonexistent defense AGAIN. Buffalo, S F. and now this. Just disappointing more than anything

Good - the Lions get a better draft position. Woooo

By the way, I really hope they keep Skipper. He's played better than all but 2 linemen and they may lose him..

Was listening to a little radio and they had what Detroit teams can you compare this to. I'll agree with the 1994 and 2009 Red Wings, Michigan losing to Texas Tech. And 2006 Tigers.. also the SF series with the fat guy hitting home runs.. also the Piston's a few years.

What really hit me was the positivity of everyone with this game. Im talking Vegas. 9 point favorites and 95% favorable odds. All the pundits as well. Some had concern that they may not cover but never losing..

Now seeing the casual well, " they were just too banged up to ever win". This will sting for awhile, actually. My question is why were we so confident about this game in the first place. And I mean everyone.

Last but not least you have to tip your hat as the coach did to Washington as they have an elite qb. If you followed them at all you could see this happening a mile away. They outcoached us as well. We also have a qb that is looking more like a Kirk Cousins

Good: Assuming everyone recovers, the roster is aimed at next year, not this year.
Bad: Off-season staff chaos. Not just Johnson and Glenn, but Fraley, Randle-El, Brunell. Agnew. Maybe Spielman? Even if the replacements are good, there will be chaos.
Ugly: The real possibility that this was the peak, and the peak ended with most of the defense on IR.

Given the way the season went, it was almost fitting that the Super Bowl quest ended with Amik Robertson’s elbow getting broken in a friendly-fire accident.

2 years in a row of injuries just decimating the secondary. Moseley, CGJG, Iffy, Rakestraw, Davis, Robertson. Sutton gets his own special category. Two seasons in a row where we end up with Vildor being our #2 corner

Defense has potential to improve in 2025. Lions could head into the playoffs with a front four of Hutch, Za’Sheed, Alim, and Reader. Campbell, Branch, and Joseph all a year more experienced. Arnold seems to have been coached up by a ref. Without another rash of freak injuries, that defense would be solid.

The offense might be more concerning next year. Goff, with a cap number at the low end of the top tier, is deadly when the defense has to respect everything. He looked all-world when the OL was intact. But Zeitler being out last night was a big deal. Mahogany looks serviceable, but that killer early strip sack was on Glasgow and Decker is not 100%.
