  • Washington at Detroit Divisional Playoff Thread

This is the game I wished for.
Lions open as 10 point favorites.
Daniels became the 4th rookie to win a road playoff game vs TB.
Glenn better have his QB spies ready cause Jayden can run!

I think as long as we can score TDs at will, and limit their offense to mostly Field goals, then we can win this Saturday night and prepare to host the NFC Championship Game the following weekend.

It's been hard to go a week without a Lions game. We couldn't have gotten a better match-up. Unless we somehow manged to get GB again.

They deployed spies against Buffalo and it killed them. He runs a lot of read/option and RPOs, that's a little different. More like make sure the DE and LB are well versed in the scrape exchange.

Washington scores a lot so it may be a shootout but I've watched them a few times and the offense isn't as impressive as the scores suggest.

We will also play the Commanders next season in their stadium, so I certainly don't want to hear from those fans if we somehow lose Saturday night.

Let's get it done-- the victory-- so we won't have to hear from the Commanders fans next season.

No playoff game is going to be an "easy" matchup.

But I do like this matchup more than most. I strongly suspect Glenn is going to have some stuff dialed up that Daniels has never even dreamed of, much less seen before. On top of that, communicating in Ford Field when it is rocking tests veterans, much less rookies. And make no mistake, Ford Field is going to be incendiary. It will almost assuredly be the most hostile stadium Daniels has ever walked into in his life.

Offensively, this Commanders' defense has given up points by the truckload whenever they've faced a good offense... and Detroit's offense is one of the best there is in the league. The Commanders do give up the middle of the field quite a bit, and well... you might as well be playing right into Jared Goff's wheelhouse.

Nothing's a guarantee. The Commanders could absolutely win (they've won 13 games this season at this point)... but I suspect the Lions will win this fairly handily. The matchup simply favors them in damn near every way.

Playing Saturday is probably a good thing

Commanders have a short week and if the Lions win, they'll be able to scout their future opponent the next day and have one more day of rest than them.

The Commanders are 30th against the run this year. It’s been bad so this is a favorable game for Gibbs and Monty to take control so we can set up the play action. Monty will be key in wearing these guys down. Problem is can our defense gets the stops it needs to stop Jayden?

Aa long as we take care of business Saturday night, I'll even put up with facing somehow the Rams or Vikings again if either gets past the Eagles next Sunday.

I was just reading that Daniels has a 90.3 QBR against the blitz, which is 3rd best in the league. I’m sure that’s because he can make the blitzers miss so often.

The Commies are the #1 team I wanted to play. And Saturday was the day I wanted. So basically, perfection.

Lowest non-divisional seed. Despite GB looking like shit, I feel like GB vs DET favors the road team. The Lions are built to win on grass and the Packers are built to win in a dome. And of course, playing on Saturday puts the Commies on a short week and if we win we get an extra day.

So with everything being perfect and exactly what most of us wanted, of course that terrifies me because this is when things go wrong. I believe in this team, the coaching staff has earned all of our trust, but we will see if the football gods interfere.

Go ahead NFL, send us that Brad Allen dipshit. I dare you. He calls one penalty on us and he won't make it out alive.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

This is the game I wanted as well Dan. Prime Time Saturday night is great.

-------------------------------Ditto. We haven't played Washington yet. They don't know what they are getting into. Much better than playing a team we've already beat who's seen us and is familiar with how we operate. I really, REALLY didn't want to lay the Packers or Vikings again. I've had nightmares over one of those teams ending our SB run after we beat them twice in the regular season.
again. It's going to be fun watching this offense go against this crappy Washington defense.

Devon Payne apparently has a dislocated finger on his right hand. He should play, but he's gonna be feelin' it.
