Woody Johnson does not impress me at all. I don't see Ben Johnson going there. I thought I heard Spielman say in a podcast last year that when the Lions approached him about becoming a GM that he flat out side he had no experience but knew good GM candidates (BRAD HOLMES). Maybe his mindset has changed....Got Kneecaps?

Spielman's experience over the last 4 years gives him a much better baseline than John Lynch had stepping into the role in SF. You don't have to be a long-time scout to build the right organization, and I'm sure spending these last years seeing how the sausage is made would give him the confidence to know the right types of people and skills he needs.

Spielman is definitely a hire if the organization is looking to change everything they do. The owner has to want to do that. Of all the teams.looking to hire head coaches maybe the Jets are most like the Lions were 4 years ago but I'm not sure about Ambassador Johnson.
From the outside with no info, it seems like Chris Spielman is doing the interview as a favor to his brother. But maybe he got the bug to be a GM.

If Ben and Aaron leave please let it be AFC Teams

“Sources: #Lions OC Ben Johnson — the top candidate in this year’s cycle — is scheduled to interview with four teams and has set up virtual meetings as follows: – Raiders & Patriots on Friday – Bears & Jaguars on Saturday,” Jordan Schultz said in a post.
It was a big surprise last offseason when Ben Johnson decided that he wanted to return to the Lions instead of taking a job as a head coach. He was a hot commodity then, but after another extremely impressive season, he is certainly the most sought-after target.
The Lions finished the regular season with the best scoring offense in the NFL and the second best total offense ranking. Johnson has this unit clicking on all cylinders, and his creativity with play-calling makes this offense one of the most fun units to watch in all of football.
Unfortunately for the Lions, it looks like this will likely be the last season that Ben Johnson is the offensive coordinator in Detroit. He clearly has interest in being a head coach as he has these interviews set up, and he’s too good of a coach to not be leading a team.

Sigh, why does the band need to break up so soon?"We're still on the hunt, but if you're hunting us, you don't have to look far. We're going to be on your front porch when you open the door."

I would just advise everyone to listen to the paragon of wisdom and R-E-L-A-X. The news is coming fast about interviews because this is the only time they can interview the Lions guys (hopefully until mid-February). We might lose a few coaches and maybe a front office type but they aren't going to lose everybody.
Losing people is the sign of a good organization. For so long it was joked that the Lion head coach never got another opportunity for another job anywhere else. We never even thought about coordinators becoming head coaches. The only one I could really remember ever getting a HC job later on was Marc Trestman.
Remember when they hired Dan Campbell, Mainevent had a friend in the league who said Dan Campbell was the real deal and he had contacts all over. That's proven to be true. The front office has a lot of people behind the scenes. I don't know much about Sheila Hamp's role but it seems like she would be able to get adequate replacements.
