It’s funny too because coaches that win the award often have low expectations based on how they have constructed their team or they step into what’s deemed a bad situation. So if they happen to catch lightning in a bottle, they get rewarded for that one year and then the team the regresses to the mean a year later. So are they a good smart coach or did they just get lucky?

I just wonder what would have happened with Stefanski if the Browns hadn't screwed up the Mayfield situation. In retrospect it looks like the worse decision you could possibly make. At the time it was weird because Mayfield was gutting out a season where he should have went on IR. He seems like a good coach but he has a situation worse than a bad quarterback. He has a bad quarterback that he cannot get rid of and it seems like he is expected to play him from orders above.

Maybe Stefanski is entirely blameless in dumping the guy who got him his first COY award for Watson. But should he be let off the hook? Can you imagine DC signing off on that? Sean Payton kicked Russ to the curb, costs be damned. Stefanski just sits there and takes all that bullshit.

Haslam also forced Johhny Manziel to be drafted I believe. Sheesh. Two QBs that leave you wondering, "Are they worse on the field or off it?""Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."
