Almost assuredly. The brought Darnold in as a bridge QB and he bridged it. Also last year's season for them gives them a little breathing room pressure wise to let JJ settle in.

              • I would think switching to a QB with no experience is a very high risk move considering they had one of the best records in the NFC last season. They were a contender with a QB who was in his first season with the team. Another solid off-season probably would have yielded another season where they’re competing for the best record in the NFC. The Vikings are throwing that away on an unproven QB. If he falters, Minnesota ends up looking pretty bad.

                • I think the Vikings did the right thing. JJ is their man and I think they are right unfortunately. I'm still not sure on Darnold and now he has to play outside.

                  • The Vikes saw the real Darnold in their last two games last year and know that he wasn't going to get them over the top.

I am glad to see that it looks as if they will start a QB who is essentially an unproven rookie. I imagine that he will have normal rookie QB growing pains and that bodes well for the Lions. I really doubt that McCarthy is a Daniels type talent.

                    • While JJ will need the physical reps. He did get a whole year to immerse himself in their offense so his learning curve is going to be a lot shorter.

                        • Daniel Jones signed with Colts today, so looks like Vikings are all-in on JJ. I thought they might have kept Jones for another bridge year.

They absolutely did the right think. Now they have a QB on a rookie contract, which is what everyone wants as long as their at least serviceable. Fucking Nick Mullens was successful(ish) in that offense. JJ will be fine.

Yeah, to me that says the Vikings told Jones that JJ is the starter. Because if I saw what O’Connell just did for Darnold, I’d want to try to revive my career under him too.
