Hot take: Maybe Ben Johnson ends up staying in 2025.

    NFL News:
Jags announced the firing of Doug Pederson, but apparently GM Trent Baalke is staying. Baalke must be the greatest salesman to owners because he won the 49ers Harbaugh vs Baalke divorce battle as well. Very shocking announcement to me by Khan. Very questionable decision by him.

On NBC’s pregame show last night, there was a little Mike Florio hint that Ben Johnson could stay. It’s becoming more likely because I don’t see a job opening that is going for a clean sweep in the organization. Guarantee Johnson will want a new GM of his choice. Ryan Poles… Trent Baalke… no chance IMO.

Yeah, I think with Baalke in place that narrows the pool for Jacksonville considerably. Not only has he not been good, he’s not known for being easy to work with.

Had a friend say he heard Kraft was going to make a run at Johnson, but can’t imagine NE hires anybody but Vrabel. Unless Vrabel feels too loyal to Belichick or something.

Feels like Vrabel is a clear cut #1 choice for the Patriots, but interesting idea given Drake Maye is there …. Flores also a good idea. I’ve heard some negative stuff about executive Elliot Wolf. That’s my one question.

AG seems like a lock for the Saints (heavy favorite) or Jets. Also, good for AG if he gets an opportunity. Well deserved if so. All-time performance by his defense last night.

I bet Vrabel gets all the keys if he goes to NE. Even if he's not the GM, I assume he'll get to pick his guy. He went through a battle in Tennessee, and I don't think he'll want to deal with a guy he's not 100% aligned with.

I think it would be silly for any team looking for a coach not to kick the tires of Ben. But I feel there was a message to someone else in letting Mayo go practically mid game. It wasnt for Ben, win or lose last night it was probably a couple weeks before they could interview him. They didn't want someone taking a job before knowing their spot was open. Has to be Vrabel IMHO.

Johnson and Glenn can do initial interviews this week and Bears have already requested both.

Saints and Jets are two miserable places to take over. Neither have a franchise QB or potential one. They pick 7th & 9th. Saints are in cap hell. Jets are probably not in good cap shape either.

I know Glenn has history with both, but it should be about business for him.

I hope both Glenn and Johnson turn down the Bears.

I hope that he will come back next season.

I know this won’t happen but how crazy would it be if the Vikings decide to let Darnold walk and then bring in Rodgers because they want a skilled veteran to lead their team back to the playoffs? McCarthy would be risky considering the Vikings are a Super Bowl contender.

The Vikings picked up Daniel Jones. I'd guess they'll keep either Darnold or Jones for their bridge QB while they groom McCarthy. Both Jones and Darnold are better than Rodgers rn.

Raiders shitcan Pierce. I wonder if that makes them a contender to steal Vrabel away from the Pats. But the way Brady gushed over the Lions and how he would have loved to play in Ben Johnson’s offense, I can’t imagine he won’t be interviewed by the Raiders.
