That's an interesting thought Tom. I think I'm sticking with Williams but I pay him before he breaks out big time and I think there's a distinct possibility that may happen.

DK will cost a valuable draft pick and a big contract extension and he doesn’t really address the needs they have at WR - he’s basically a bigger/better version of what Jamo brings and at twice the price. And the Lions already have their $30M/year WR.

I’d rather just take that 2nd or 3rd round pick that they’d probably have to trade and grab a WR in the draft.

Would there be any sense in trading Jamieson Williams for DK Metcalf? Metcalf has speed and is a big physical target. You might lose some explosiveness but you could shed some of the immaturity and you would be keeping Metcalf away from GB.

I don't think the Lions see Jamo's immaturity as the problem that some fans do.

Metcalf not exactly a paragon of maturity on the field either - multiple personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties over the years and he was kicked out of a game a couple of years ago for fighting.

Nothing about the Lions screams that they need big expensive wide receivers. They need a really good blocking tight end more than a guy like Metcalf

I also have a low key feeling that Jameson Williams is going to have a big season provided he stays healthy. That's no guarantee.

Bengals letting Hendrickson talk to teams about a trade. Much like during the season, if the Lions were going to make a big move, Hendrickson is more likely than Garrett or Crosby. But still highly unlikely in my book for the Lions given the contract he’s going to command.

I think some people are thinking Lions pre Holmes when the Lions didn't have much talent and every aging star looked better than what was on the roster.

That is no longer the case, but the Lions having talent is still hard to fathom. Ha!

I think there's also a strong "Our window is NOW" sentiment, people who seem to think [x] player is going to guarantee a Lombardi or something.

Dude has missed 2 games in 4 years and has averaged 14 sacks a year since he joined the Bengals, including back to back 17.5 sack, doing it this year on a team with no other credible threat.

That would be great. They can't count on Davenport again. They need to do something in FA but they'll probably wait for the draft thinking they can just draft another AH for the other side. They're going to waste this window. Speaking of window, Philly doesn't seem to have one. How do they do it. Draft well and sign key FA for the SB push. The Lions have drafted well. Now sign a key FA or two for heaven sake.

But the Eagles don’t really pay top of the market for any FA. They paid Barkley, but the RB market had dipped so low that it wasn’t a very big contract overall. They do make trades for top talent but moves for guys like Slay and AJ Brown have been very reasonable trades. They operate a lot like the Lions that they try to pay their own guys

They have dipped into the pass rush market a bit with Hassan Reddick and Bryce Huff, but those guys were middle tier signings and one was a hit and one was a miss.
