I don't know if MLS requires a grass field or if they are allowed to play on turf (turns out quite a few teams play on turf) but quite a few years ago when the world cup (which I do believe requires playing on a grass field) came to the Silverdoom and they tried to put grass in the domed stadium, the temperature got to be around 90 degrees with 40% humidity (according to a Google search).
I know this really doesn't have anything to do with the conversation regarding having a retractable roof, etc but I thought it was an interesting tidbit considering the efforts of some players wanting to go to grass fields citing safety concerns and how that would work in a domed stadium.
Main, I believe I read that as well about the increased budget.
