With the offensive coordinator, I'm a little less concerned because Campbell was involved and Goff helped design the offense. Frankly, I was always a bit puzzled on the amount of praise heaped on Ben Johnson. He was good and deserved a shot, but I think he was the beneficiary of the football industrial complex. People have to provide content for 365 days and he was the recipient of the praise.
I think some of that is from the narratives that surround Campbell and Goff. Surely the meathead and the game manager, couldn’t be the driving force behind the #1 offense.
"This is an empty signature. Because apparently carrying a quote from anyone in this space means you are obsessed with that person. "
Would have never said this two years ago, but I think they are going to struggle to replace Glenn.
We are losing a guy who matured into his role - and was really only held back by a rash of injuries rarely seen.

He matured into the role once we got players. We still have the players.
As long as we have Campbell & Fraley, our offense is going to be good. The coaching staff on that side of the ball is stacked: Montgomery, Engstrand, Randel-El & Brunell. All of them could take a step forward. I just hope we don't lose several.
Defensive staff probably needs a stronger coordinator.
The path the Cowboys have taken since Jones bought them has been pretty interesting. When Jones bought the Cowboys, I believe he forced out Landry. At the time I think there was some thought that he didn’t know what he was doing. Then he hired Jimmy Johnson. I know they got a lot of criticism after going 1-15 and I think people expected Jimmy to get shown the door. But they really took big strides during the 2nd season with the help of the Walker deal. Then you saw Jimmy putting together a really good roster. Jimmy ends up winning two titles and you would have thought that this was going to be a dynasty but Jones and Johnson couldn’t keep the peace. Johnson leaves and then people thought Jones had royally screwed up by letting Johnson go. He brings in Switzerland and they end up winning one more title post-Jimmy.
So I think people thought the Cowboys would continue to dominate. While they are one of the most valuable franchises and they have had very talented rosters, Jones has never been able to get back to the Super Bowl. And in recent years it seems like he just makes bad decisions and revels in the fact that the Cowboys are being talked about for any reason.
I personally enjoy watching them flounder. I don’t usually enjoy watching teams run up the score on other teams but there was something satisfying about the Lions blowing them out of the water. At the time the Cowboys were 3-2 so there was a thought that they could still be a factor in the playoff race.
Jerry Jones has had two goals over these years proving that he was justified in firing Jimmy Johnson in a drunken stupor and increasingly lately is making as much money as possible on the Cowboys. There is always a chance he made a home run hire because nobody knows a thing about which hire will be successful, but I doubt anybody would say right now that Brian Schottenheimer is an upgrade over McCarthy.
