The loss against Tampa ended up being a 12 men on the field gaffe that cost Detroit a field goal attempt because of the clock runoff - ended up losing that game by 3
The loss against Buffalo was due to injuries
Look at the playoff wins against the Rams and Bucs in the 2023 playoffs - Ford Field definitely has home field advantage.Got Kneecaps?

I have no idea who would be a good DC or OC fit for the Lions.
I really don't care who they hire because I think this may be the first time in my life that I trust that the Lions will find the right people.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

We really never know about the assistant coaches and people talk with too much authority about who does what. I'm more interested in the defensive coordinator than the offensive coordinator. I liked Glenn and thought he did a good job but I think there might be an opportunity to change things up a bit. I'm glad they already replaced the defensive line coach, that seems like someone they knew to target because perhaps they thought Williams was a one year deal until Vrabel got another job. This new guy seems like he has a decent resume, but who knows.
With the offensive coordinator, I'm a little less concerned because Campbell was involved and Goff helped design the offense. Frankly, I was always a bit puzzled on the amount of praise heaped on Ben Johnson. He was good and deserved a shot, but I think he was the beneficiary of the football industrial complex. People have to provide content for 365 days and he was the recipient of the praise.
I do think it's important to keep Hank Fraley, he is having or had a second interview with Seattle. Good offensive line coaches are in short supply.

Yeah, the D coordinator conversation is much more interesting. Like I said before, if it's anybody other than Engstrand or Montgomery, I'll be surprised.
I'd be nervous if it's Sheppard, he's just so young in his career. But you never know. What I like about Campbell, he won't be afraid to bring new ideas into the building if he sees an opportunity to improve. So Foote coming from being under Bowles, who runs a lot of Cover 3 is interesting, but it's also a scheme that gets aggressive with blitzes and unusual formations pre-snap. But just because you learn under a guy doesn't mean you are going to roll out exactly what they do.

Saying you are a man coverage based team leaves a lot of leeway for how that's deployed. Even the Lions, one of the heaviest man coverage teams, don't typically break 50% in terms of the number of snaps in man coverage defensive sets. So saying you are going to stay a man coverage team means there's still over 50% of the time when a zone concept is being called. And then within those man coverage schemes themselves, there are variations on how they are deployed and the flourishes that each DC uses.
So look at Larry Foote who's been operating under Todd Bowles, in Tampa. Bowles defense runs man coverage at one of the lowest rates in the league. So clearly Foote would bring some different ideas to how they use zone to supplement the man coverage and likely wouldn't use man in the same way Glenn does/has.
