Well, there’s not a lot to like in the “if we’ve got to lose, to whom would I not mind losing” sweepstakes.
Lions are the best team, but the best team doesn’t always win and there’s no shame in a favorable matchup. If the Packers can pull out a miracle at the Linc, I’m for it. I don’t see it as cheering for Green Bay, I see it as cheering for a matchup. [spongebob] How many times do we need to teach you this lesson, LaFleur? [/spongebob]
Consider a big Chiefs advantage. The class of the AFC this year is clearly Chiefs, Bills, Ravens and then it falls off a lot. Whatever happens, the Chiefs do not have to beat both Buffalo and Baltimore. In the other bracket, I mostly don’t care - though I’d love to see Tomlin put in Fields, play bad weather keep away, and win 9-7 just for the lulz. But in the NFC, the Lions are a fair bet to see Kevin O’Connell in two weeks and then the Eagles in the NFCC.
So, yeah, I’d like to see the Pack take out Philly. (Did anyone cry when Love smacked the Cowboys around in the wild card last year?) For what it’s worth, I’d like to see Daniels take the Bucs out of the picture. Every game the Lions aren’t in has a loser.
- Lose the third time around to Pack or Vikings.
- Go 0-2 against Tampa Bay.
- Have the best season in decades ended by the Redskins. Again.
- Have the best season in years ended by the Eagles. Again. (At least not Rodney Peete this time, but ffs.)
- Lose to Stafford. Goff loses to McVay. LA’s post-Super Bowl rebuild laps Brad Holmes.
