  • Bad, Bad, Ugly - If You HAVE to Shit the Bed, Against the Bills is the Best Time

Placeholder for everyone once they are ready.

I really don't have terribly much to say other than maybe the coaching staff isn't terribly upset tonight, because ya know, it can be hard maintaining a winning edge as long as the Lions have. Might as well get the demons out now in a game that doesn't matter much, and get ready for next week.

Ugly seems to be McNeil have a non-contact knee injury. That might as well be a neon sign saying "Done For Season." Hoping for a miracle.

Oh, is it? I've just been dipping in and out of chat, and it sounded like everyone was talking like the game was effectively over. I figured it was late in the fourth or something.

They just scored a TD before the 4th to cut it to 14. But a stop is looking unlikely.

I hope today was a learning experience. Toxic positivity is just as bad or worse than toxic negativity. Even keel. Keep your nose the the grindstone. I hope all of them, from Campbell on down learn something from this.

YES! It is. Been trying to work out how to word a post describing that and that’s perfect.
At 12-1 , you’re definitely thinking, “This team is untouchable and we must be planning our Lombardi parties”……. Then today happens and its a hard kick to the nutbag. Its a sore one.

At least with “SOL” you go 🤷‍♂️ ah well and go watch some Columbo or something.

197 rushing yards for Buffalo is more troubling than anything. Even when they had other QBs putting up numbers on them the Lions have defended the run well. Combine that with the Lions now officially struggling running game, that worries me more than anything.

Take a lesson from My Rams in their Superbowl run in 2021. They started out hot as hell and then they slumped mid season. At one point during the season they lost 3 straight games by double digits. They steadied the ship and finished 12-5 but they weren't like overwhelming favorites going into the playoffs

A bad game is a bad game.

They need to figure out the running game. It's been great all year but it is sprung a few leaks.

They were playing a lot of nickel. It will be interesting to see the snap counts, but today was the first day we really saw the toll of losing 5 linebackers. They stop the run a lot because they play the most in base of any team in the league.

And Allen creates match-up issues too, so that exacerbates the problem. But there was still a lot of the Bills OL working them over, which is what we expected the Lions to do to their smaller DL. Instead a second game in a row where the Lions OL struggled with quicker DL.

I had a football coach who said in any year you are going to have a game where everything goes right and a game where nothing goes right. The Lions have had a lot of games where everything goes right. Hopefully this is the one that goes wrong, but the running game on both sides is concerning.

Buffalo has been Superbowl contenders for about 5 seasons, the Ravens are perennial contenders. Winning a title is hard.

MCDC says the McNeill and CD3 injuries are probably season-ending.

Unless Moseley is a week or two away from a miracle full-speed return, the defense is just down too many guys.

If both of those are season ending, that might be the dagger.
