  • Bills at Lions Game Week (extended dance mix edition) thread

Three extra days to heal up and wonder which of the Northern Savage reinforcements will make it back.

The Lions are seeking their first win over Buffalo since 2006, when Jon Kitna outdueled J.P. Losman for the first of m̵a̵n̵y̵ several wins in the Rod Marinelli era.

Thinking back, Pound the Rock never quite had the kneecap-biting energy, did it?

Mini bye week couldn’t come at a better time.

Bills vs Lions… What else needs to be said? Simply a game between two excellent teams that have a shot to win the Super Bowl. It’s a mulligan for the Lions because they can afford a loss to the AFC and win tiebreakers. Icing on the cake to win this vs the Bills. I expect it to look similar to yesterday’s game vs the Packers. Lions offense will have to win it due to a depleted defense. Josh Allen can make miracles happen by himself. While being aware of big play James Cook.

In case you need a reminder of 2022 Bills at Lions, posted below. A game that very few thought the Lions could win and it came down to a FG. Well, the Lions will be favored this time around. Perhaps Lions -1.5 as a guess? Very different than 2022.

I expect this one to be a shootout. As I stated in the GBU packers thread, I expect Campbell to once again lean on the O to carry this team to (hopefully) get another W.
        Got Kneecaps?

When you think about, the schedule makers got one thing wrong.
This, if no other game on the NFL schedule this year should be in Buffalo.
The mother of all snow storms, howling wind, and two teams built to handle those elements.
          ------
This shouldn't be a "Pickens" game, but a throwback. Two of the best teams in their respective conferences playing the game in the elements.

Lions have 'much more positive' injury outlook after mini-bye week

                  Paywall article.

Allen Park — With a high-flying Buffalo Bills offense on their way to Detroit, Lions head coach Dan Campbell provided an update on several injured players on Monday.

Campbell said he's seen progress from a majority of the players who've missed recent contests, though he wasn't ready to make sweeping proclamations about their status for Sunday's game.

"Every one of our guys, it's much more positive. Everybody is healing up, and so, we're better than we were last week," Campbell said. "I don't know yet how many we'll get back, and honestly, I may not know until Thursday of this week, just exactly where we're at."

Campbell said he feels "better" about left tackle Taylor Decker, who's missed the last two games because of a knee injury. Outside of Decker, it sounds like defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike and Alim McNeill are the two most likely candidates to return for this week's game against the Bills.

Onwuzurike suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of Detroit's win over the Chicago Bears, and McNeill left Thursday's game against the Packers due to a head injury.

"The D-line is in flux," Campbell said. "There's a chance Levi can be back, (McNeill has) got to pass protocol, he's in everything. He did not take a step back, so as long as he can clear, that sounds positive, but it's just going to take some time to figure some of this out."

Campbell did not have specific updates for defensive linemen Josh Paschal (knee) or DJ Reader (shoulder).

                  On the mend

In addition to players on the active roster dealing with injuries, Campbell also provided some updates on players who are coming back from injured reserve.

The team will have conversations about bringing back cornerback Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring) and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (finger) as early as next week.

Linebacker Alex Anzalone (forearm) and Kalif Raymond (foot) are tracking toward being ready for either the season finale or the first round of playoffs.

"Alex, we feel like, is on pace to (return) towards the end of the season," Campbell said. "It could be the last game, it may not be until the playoffs, but we feel good about getting him back. I think Kalif's probably in that same boat, probably where Alex is."

Linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck), Campbell said, "is better, but it's just slow going right now."

"I don't really know where he could be," Campbell said. "There is a chance that we get him in a few weeks, there's a chance that we don't. So it's...just where we're at."

It sounds promising getting most of these guys back for the playoffs.

Sounds good on the injury front. We can use all the help we can get for the Bills and Allen.

The Rams hung 44 on the Bills last Sunday. If they can do it, we should be more than capable.

I don’t know who said it but it was something like “this will probably be a 13-10 game”.

I do think we should be able to run the ball against them. Stopping Allen(obviously) is the biggest issue i see. O/U is 53.5, which seems about right.
