Well, there is a degree that the officiating towards the Lions has changed. They are one of the elite teams now, and more often than not the Lions are getting the benefit of the doubt calls that they weren't getting, say, five years ago. (No ref is flagging a Lions EDGE rusher for phantom illegal hands to the face on consecutive plays this season, for example).

That said, shit refs are shit, and they're gonna make shit calls on occasion on every team in the league. My advice to teams that don't like the officiating is the same advice I gave on this forum game after game that fans bitched about the refs:

The refs aren't out to get your team specifically. They just suck. You have to get good enough to make the refs irrelevant. No, it's not fair, but that's how it is. Deal with it. The only agency with the power to change it (the league) has no impetus to do so as long as millions of people keep tuning in.

Gotta roll teams or at least be up by two scores so it wont come down to that last possession.

When the lions got stopped on 3 straight runs late in the game before the last bears drive, I said to my son, " Here comes three runs and a punt, "he said "They will convert the 3rd and one," I said no they won't unless they pass.
After a few F bombs they were punting.

Reisman is not happy about that pass interference call, which given that it unfairly extended the game, I can't blame him much.

I don't know how you rule that was catchable, even if you want to exaggerate the hand-fighting.

I had noticed Al-Quadin Muhammad a few games ago getting some nice pressure. He came up big yesterday. I didn't realize Broderic Martin was on the field for the last three plays.

I hope some of the injuries were Thursday game exhaustion injuries. Thank the Lord they got Zadarius Smith. I'm looking forward to seeing him with Hutch next season.

I said the same thing. They should have been up 30-0 at half -time. They had an 18-2 first down lead and totally dominated. That fumble down at the goal line really hurt.

I was ready for an all time failure as the second half just went wonky with the Lions just trying to hang on and they abandoned the run at times and played cover 2 and prevent defense just enough to let the Bears back in.

thank God they won as it didn't feel like one at the end.

I know. I hate to say it but next year might be their year. I hope they can hang on this year but may run out of luck on defense with attrition.

That's what I'm telling myself. The Lions hit a similar wall at right about this same time last year, and were back in form within a few weeks. Gotta tell myself that's all this is.

Graham Couch likes to talk about the short term injuries being a blessing because what you want is the team at full strength come playoffs.
