Or laugh at the fact that it isn't your team having him as your Offensive Coordinator.

            • Ahead of the Thanksgiving Day matchup, the Detroit Lions gobbled up the Indianapolis Colts, 24-6, to improve to 10-1 — their best start since 1934.

Technically, the selfie was taken in the front row; I was in the 14th row until the last few minutes of the 4th quarter, when the Colts fans started leaving in droves. I will post a few more photos, and I have a couple of videos - hope they will upload, we shall see. The game was a bit of a slog, but I’m so glad I went. The last time I saw the Lions during the regular season, Bill Schroeder caught a touchdown pass from Mike McMahon right in front of me haha

This slog of a game is way better than the entire Matt Millen era outside of HOF Calvin Johnson.

                        Detroit Free Press

INDIANAPOLIS — On the surface, it felt so routine, so ordinary.

Once again, the Detroit Lions fell behind early — actually for the fifth time on the road this season — and then rolled to a dominating 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Once again, Lions fans took over a stadium on the road, making Lucas Oil Stadium feel like Ford Field — as the Lions won their ninth game in a row, their best streak since opening 1934 (their first season in Detroit) 10-0.

And once again, the Lions defense was simply extraordinary — they’ve now gone 11 quarters without giving up a touchdown.

                        But this wasn’t routine.

The score looked like another easy blowout.

                        But it wasn’t.

And just under the surface, there were so many injuries that it would be understandable if a Lions fan just wanted this game to end.

Kalif Raymond was injured on a punt, cornerback Carlton Davis III had to limp off after what appeared to be a non-contact knee injury and running back David Montgomery was also injured and went to the locker room (though he later returned to the sideline.

                        Ugh.

                        Just make this game end.

                        Creativity and surprise

A word here about the game itself.

This was a win built on creativity and surprise in the play-calling.

                        Third-and-8 from the Indy 31?

                        That screams pass, right?

And that’s clearly what Indianapolis was expecting, because the Colts linebackers bailed, just like the Lions expected. Instead, the Lions ran up the gut, and Jahmyr Gibbs picked up 17. Four plays later, Gibbs scored on a pretty play — Jameson Williams ran in motion to the right and Gibbs ran to the left, completely untouched.

                        Touchdown.

                        Start the celebration.

All because they ran on third-and-long.

                        Then, it happened again.

Late in the second quarter, the Lions had third-and-6 on the 19.

                        You pass, right?

                        Not these Lions.

They gave the ball to Montgomery, who had a nice hole — give the line credit for the opening.

But after the initial burst, it was all about effort and strength and guts, as Montgomery ripped off 13 yards, dragging three Colts on his back.

                        First down.

Two plays later, Montgomery scored, and the Lions had a 14-6 lead.

Because of the creativity and surprise.

Meanwhile, the Colts kept hurting themselves.

If it wasn’t an Anthony Richardson bad throw (and there were a bunch), it was a dropped touchdown pass or bringing back a huge play because of a penalty.

In some ways, the juxtaposition of the two teams showed how clean the Lions were playing.

Some things do feel the same.

Lions cruise to win over Colts to earn ninth straight victory: Key takeaways

By Colton Pouncy, James Boyd and Jelani Scott

The Detroit Lions added another dominant win Sunday, cruising to a 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts with a smash-mouth performance to remain perfect on the road.

Week 12 was the ninth time this season the Lions (10-1) topped 20 points and the third time their defense held an opponent to less than 10 points. Detroit’s latest standout showing of complementary football was led by second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who made team history. With 99 scrimmage yards, including 90 on the ground, and two touchdowns, Gibbs became the third Lion (Billy Sims, Barry Sanders) to record 1,000-plus scrimmage yards and 10-plus TDs in his first two seasons.

Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn’s unit again proved why it’s one of the NFL’s best. It limited Indianapolis to two first-half field goals on the Colts’ only two red-zone trips, the first of which came after a dropped touchdown. A slew of penalties on both sides and miscues throughout the game, coupled with Detroit forcing four punts and a turnover on downs in the second half, stamped an all-around difficult day for the Colts (5-7) and quarterback Anthony Richardson, who played admirably in his second game back under center.

Lions grind out win despite lukewarm offensive effort
This was a strange game. The Lions’ offense struggled more than we’re used to seeing. The offense was well below its points average of 33.6, settling for just 24. It had to grind for everything, and it often wasn’t pretty. But the unit got the job done again.

The defense held the Colts to just six points — three after the opening drive of the game — but avoided some big plays that were dropped or called back because of penalties. The Lions will take that eight days a week, but there’s plenty to clean up from a game like this one. With the win, the Lions improve to 10-1. They’ve won nine in a row. Next up: the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. — Colton Pouncy, Lions beat writer

Lions win possibly came at a cost

Several Lions players suffered injuries. Wide receiver Kalif Raymond was ruled out with a foot injury. Offensive tackle Taylor Decker suffered knee and ankle injuries. Cornerback Carlton Davis III suffered a knee injury. Running back David Montgomery suffered a shoulder injury. Decker was able to return to action, while Montgomery and Davis remained on the sideline, perhaps ready to go back in if needed. But still, this feels like a weekly occurrence. Injuries are certainly piling up, and it feels like they are the only thing that can slow the Lions down right now. It’s worth monitoring the status of several players heading into back-to-back Thursday games. — Pouncy

                            No help for Anthony Richardson

Richardson picked up where he left off last week and looked like a player who was in control of the offense, though he didn’t get much help from his counterparts Sunday. The second-year pro still had his share of errant throws, but he was also playing behind an offensive line that featured three rookies and was constantly under siege. Richardson wasn’t sacked but was hit six times and pressured even more.

Richardson finished 11-of-28 passing for 172 yards. His best throw came on a 39-yard deep shot to Alec Pierce in the second quarter that put Indianapolis in the red zone with a chance to take an early lead. However, tight end Drew Ogletree dropped a walk-in touchdown two plays later, and Indianapolis settled for a field goal. Indy’s offense never recovered and finished with a season-low six points.

Richardson is now 4-4 as a starter this season as Indianapolis suffered its fourth loss in five games. — James Boyd, Colts beat writer

                            Penalties, penalties and more penalties

The Colts committed 10 penalties for a total of 75 yards, with several penalties negating their big plays. Indianapolis had gains of 30, 21 and 19 yards called back after being flagged. Despite starting three rookie offensive linemen, it was star left guard Quenton Nelson who violated the rules the most. He was flagged for being an ineligible man downfield, illegal use of hands and a false start. Richardson was also penalized for intentional grounding in the fourth quarter. Indianapolis’ 10 penalties are a season high and the second-most it has had in a single game over the last five years.

Richardson led the Colts with 10 carries for 61 yards as the Lions swallowed up running back Jonathan Taylor. The 2021 league rushing champ totaled just 11 carries for a season-low 35 yards and had just one carry for 14 yards in the second half. — Boyd
