  • Insane comeback. Cool to have a clutch kicker with serious range. Lions have not had that since Prater.

Hats off to Bates man. Two clutch kicks from range.

    • Zadarius Smith reminds me of Rasheed.

      • Also did Kerby Joeseph record a statistic? Teams are afraid to throw on him now.

          Totally.
          A 2nd half shutout.
Holding the Texans to many FG attempts in the 1st half.
I would add some context to the two TDs given up by the Lions in the game. One TD was off of a turnover and short field position. The other was that quick Texans TD before half… though I would give partial blame to the Lions offense for going conservative and 3 & out right before the TD. Made it difficult for the Lions D to go right back on the field in that situation.

Arnold had a poor/ rookie game. 3rd & long defense had some trouble in the 1st half.

But yeah, Lions had no business winning this game due to throwing 5 INTs. Defense gave them a great opportunity. Along with Jake, the great, Bates.

          • One of the most moving games as a Lions fan I can remember.

Barry’s best game as a lion at the Vikings the week after Mike Utley went down with paralysis was pretty sweet. 242 yards and 4tds- The whole team team devoted that game and the rest of the season to Mike Utley. I was the young man then and it moved me to tears.

            • I was so mad early in the off season because it looked like they were going to go with the veteran kicker over Bates and after I saw what Bates did in the UFL.

I thought he would be a game changer tonight my God he was

                • Lions were smart to be patient with Bates and let him develop at a good pace. He had the physical tools and now the mental toughness.

Patterson couldnt get it there. I don't thing Money badger had 58. Bates could of hit both from 60+

He wont make them all. But his calmness is clutch for his position. Good stuff

                  • One of the reasons Money Badger was in the lead during the camp was Bates had a bad beginning, in the daily reports he was struggling. But he's turned the corner.

                    • As much as Campbell claimed he had total confidence in Badgely or Patterson... there is no way in hell he sends out either of those guys for the field goal that tied the game.

                      • Campbell said that he got the confidence Thursday, they were running end of game situations and they got to the 43 with one second left and Bates hit the 60 yard FG into the wind

He might not of had a choice. Sun god dropped the pass. Its not like Goff was dealing.

cambell did not have a ton of go for it chances throughout the game. The lions trailed for majority (all) of the game but were so badly outplayed at times by the Houston def that it never made sense.

Maybe one 4th and 5 ish that was punted. But having Bates and the big leg gave them the out they needed.

                            • I am emotionally and physically spent. What a wild ride. I’d say it was enjoyable to see all the dazed Texans fans looks but most Lions fans were the same.

When St Brown scored that TD to close it 23-20 I swear to god your could hear the sound of all the sphincters tightening in that stadium.

                              • It was a great night for the unheralded players in the front 7. They didn't give an inch. Nowaske was great, Campbell was excellent. Houston was very good, and you notice that his sack came from being in coverage. Paschal was jumping off the screen.
