  • GBU: Titan game

G: special teams, 50 burger, 7 touchdowns, Raymond, Gibbs
B: early defense, but it kind of settled in. I am superstitious that I don't want a team winning the October Superbowl but the Lions are winning it.
    Not great pressure
    U: Titan turnovers

It's all good but if I have to give it a ding I would say Campbell leaving Goff in too long.

        G (for great) The 2024 / 25 Detroit Lions
B Only catching it from HT
U The new guy at the small local petrol station. Looks like an aged Scorpio from Dirty Harry. Scary as fuck.

This is one of the weirdest box scores you’ll ever see. Good is a comfortable win and no injuries of note. But plenty of shit to clean up - protection was not great, would have been nice to have an extended drive mixed in there.

I wonder if the game plan on D was just to come out super vanilla as Glenn didn’t want to tip his hand ahead of next week.

That's what I think, the defense had no wrinkles. It was kind of like a preseason defense.

What we saw was the consequence of no real pass rush. Minny effectively ran the same gameplan in the two games the Lions played last season; with no pressure, let a backup level QB step into their throws and basically chuck up a bunch of 50/50 balls. If you have a Justin Jefferson (or in this case a Calvin Ridley) they are going to win a lot more of those Chuck-N-Luck passes than fans think they should.

Then, if you send a lot of blitzes, if those blitzers don't get there quick, it leaves a lot of open field for QBs to find receivers.

Fortunately, the Lions secondary eventually stopped giving the Titans those deep looks, and the blitzes starting finding enough pressure to keep Rudolph from being able to pick his shot.

I do maintain that the Lions need to find someone to bolster their pass rush. Maybe even a couple someones.

The Lions had 1/4th the points to yardage ratio. Really weird 52 - 228.

Goff also had only 58 yards passing and -33 in sacks yardage.

Can't believe Goff was in there in that long. Now he has an ankle injury

I mean, injuries happen, and that injury happened precisely when you want your starting QB in the game.

As long as they got Goff off the field without making it worse (and that's what it seems) then it's fine.

I made it sound like it was the reason. Obviously just two separate incidents

                      G:
                      - Just about everything from this game. It was total domination after the 14-14 mark.
                      - Raymond doing this vs his former team.
                      - 52 points and 6-1 record.

                      B:
                      - Two injuries of note. Goff rolling his ankle and I hope Rodrigo is ok. Not season altering though, which is good.

                      U:
                      - Sorry about your team, Titans fans.

Good: The Lions increase the span of games where the total number of TDs scored is greater than the total number of incomplete passes

                          Good: We win!

And everything else that others have said.

Bad: I hope Goff is OK, especially his ankle.

Ugly: What is wrong with our pass rush?

We need to get a couple of the Titans' best defensive linemen before the trade deadline. They have some players that can help us out.

It was much more a coverage issue in the 1st quarter than the pass rush.

That’s what sparked Aaron Glenn being frustrated early in the game. A couple coverage breakdowns and communication issues. Such as a big play to Whyle and Rudolph scrambling for a TD… that was when Nowaske had responsibility for 2 guys.

Arnold had a few moments he would like to take back and one nice pass breakup.
I thought there was good rush from the interior guys and Houston won a few reps. Rudolph had too many instances of a clean pocket early in the game though.

Very nitpicky of me in a win like this. It’s constructive criticism as we all went the Lions to have the best opportunity to win a Super Bowl.
