G: Offensive line shaky but effective with Zeitler out.
B: Pass rush? Tried to make up for Hutch’s absence with scheme. Gave up almost 10YPA passing and 6.6YPC
U: Nothing, really. There are going to be fumbles and other bad plays, but at no point did the Lions looked overmatched. (No point where you would say, “Yep. Exposed.”)

I thought the DL was fine. After that initial bust on the TD run, the Vikings didn’t do much running the ball other than the one big Darnold scramble. The passing yards were limited to Jefferson making some plays a like 2 big down field throws. But they buttoned it inside their own 50 pretty well. They gave up 23 pts and that was with the fake FG bust on the first drive.

Montgomery’s fumble was costly but it was a good defensive play and he made a great one handed catch earlier in the game.

The great thing is that nothing seems to phase this team. A poor start, a turnover, and some bad calls and yet this team stayed focused and just kept working.

This is the second time the Lions have faced Darnold in the past few seasons and both times he was pretty good.

Overcoming that start was impressive as hell.

I’ve been whining about Campbell, but he played really well today. Also means the DTs are doing their job.

Best Lions DT group since 2014. Ndamukong Suh, CJ Moseley, and Nick Fairley’s best season prior to his unfortunate injury. … McNeill and Reader are playing very well together + the depth.

                  Goff. My gosh.
When compared to Rams and 1st half of 2021 Goff, he has matured so much since that point under this team. It’s to the point where Goff is operating a system that generates top 3-5 ish QB production. If I’m not underselling it. Very impressive to see this career arc from Goff over 4 years.

If there’s a bad… Kayode Awosika filling in for Zeitler didn’t go too well today. I even noticed 1 or 2 more instances where Awosika could have been called for holding.

Agree. Can’t be an ugly in a significant win like this. Though describing the beginning of this game as ugly would be accurate.

                      G:
When's the last time we heard SOL? The near worst-case disaster early would've been certain doom for the SOLs. We'd have conceded defeat immediately.

So much good. Amon-Ra. Patrick. Gibbs. Goff. Branch. Linebacker group. Bates!

                      B:
Just one Goff play. Just one Monty play. Just a few plays on defense.

                      U:
Monty's bad play.. The 4-man rush. The fake punt execution and/or decision not to kill it against that strange Vikings punt return formation.

So is the rule really that spiking the ball with an illegal formation is only 5 yards and no run-off? Really? So Tate is tackled at the Atlanta 1 and there is a run-off, but a team can commit an actual penalty and be in good shape? Ok then.

                      To summarize the game:

                      1st place!

Anyway I'm pretty blazed right now and we are going to the Super Bowl!
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

--------------------------------Holding can be called on every play. His first try. I think the refs were watching him with their "holding glasses" on. That being said I hope he doesn't get the chance to improve anytime soon.

On the first drive in the 3rd quarter, hoping to answer the Vikings and push the lead back to 11, the Lions got behind the sticks. There was a 2nd-and-14, a 2nd-and-15, and another 2nd-and-14.

Goff’s “behind the sticks” line: 3-3-39-1TD (Khalif), 1-1-22 (Patrick). DMo also had an 8-yard run to turn the second 2nd-and-14 into a 3rd-and-makeable that Khalif housed.

Remember when the playbook was to get pressure on Goff?

Goff faced pressure on a season-high 51.7% of his dropbacks, going 10-of-11 passing for 164 yards with two touchdowns against the heat. On the season, Goff averages a league-best 11.6 yards per attempt under pressure, with NFL Next Gen Stats noting that no other quarterback averages more than 9 yards per attempt.

The Detroit Lions (5-1) beat the Minnesota Vikings (5-1) in a back-and-forth game, with Jake Bates nailing a late field goal in the 31-29 victory.
