Just an absolute horrible freak incident that loses probably the one most important single piece on our team (Goff is great but I feel Hooker isn't as big a drop as Hutch to our next beat DE.).
That said if Reader and Alim step up (specially Alim since his knee put us in this situation), we continue to shut down the run game. The collective effort of the defense might make up the difference. We also can't have off days with our offense (specially next week).

The defense is a lot better and a lot deeper than it was last year. Is it improved enough at all the other positions to make the loss of Hutch a wash? No fucking clue yet.

Certainly a Pyrrhic victory. It’s on Glenn to figure out something to shake things up and figure out how to move forward. They can’t play the way they have without Hutch. But that’s a big ask when your #2 DE also out.
Maybe they go after Reddick or try to poach Clowney.

All I know right now is that I should feel a lot better than I do after beating the shit out of the Cowboys in Dallas.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

Any word on Carlton Davis? He was kicked in the head after his helmet came off, which would be really unpleasant, but didn't look like a long-term thing. The way the guy fell on his head/helmet though might be pretty bad.
If we also lost Davis, then that's much worse for our defense.

The bad news is, broken tibias are about a 4-6 month recovery time. His season is outright done.
We'll see what's up with this defense, as is, next week in Minnesota.
I don't expect any big moves.

The defense is good enough to win a Super Bowl, they are sticky in coverage even if it means moar penalties. So far outside of K-9 doing K-9 things, teams have not been able to run on the team. They are much better in that aspect than even last year.
Losing Hutchinson is a great blow but the pass rush will still get pressure.
