That whole Cowboy organization was yukking it up last year. They were yukking it up after that Lion playoff loss in 2014 . I'm not much for running it up and embarrassing other teams but this was well deserved. The Lions were shoving it in the faces of the refs, Cowboys and the league. As it was the refs were still helping the Cowboys.
I'm betting there were many many NFL fans who really enjoyed what the Lions did. We're not the only ones who have been on the receiving end of that NFL Cowboys bias.
Apparently the Lions reached out to “check-in” on Reddick, but apparently if he gets traded to an NFC team the Jets owe a 2nd round pick back to the Eagles. So that makes his price higher.
As agent Drew Rosenhaus explores potential trade destinations for holdout Jets defensive end Haason Reddick, there's a lingering term from the trade that sent Reddick to New York that complicates the deal.

A whole lot of schadenfreude
Judging by all the memes and videos mocking the Cowboys I’ve seen the last few days, I would say you are correct.

Another concern is that he is allegedly holding out for an unreasonable contract.
At the same time, maybe the thought of playing an important role on a Superbowl contender for a well-liked coach for only 2/3 of a season might lower his price enough. Not betting on it, but maybe.
If he's not a "turd", I'd consider a 2nd + mid-round pick. This is our last season with both Ben & Aaron.
I'm glad they reached out, that indicates they are actively searching. He is a talent but they are at least 3 hurdles to a deal and a couple red flags. If it is a second round pick for a rental of Reddick this year versus nothing, you take the former but I suspect they would find some other pass rusher that has a smaller price tag.
There are certainly options to explore, and you never know who is going to become sellers over the next three weeks. This also gives the front office a chance to see just how this defense looks without Hutch before deciding just how hard they have to go in.
I'd check out Carolina, Jacksonville and Cleveland out first for some talent.
Yes, if someone like Crosby is available, you pounce on the opportunity.
However, I love how Brad Holmes finds players with his draft skills. Only for someone like Maxx Crosby would I seriously consider giving up 2 First Round draft picks.

It’s going to be a 2nd plus something because the 2nd (or their own if they still have it) would go to Philly.
Hes not exactly a fit for the Lions scheme either, as he’s an undersized edge rusher. There’s certainly a role for him, but hard to see the Lions paying a premium of a 2nd and another pick for that.
Agreed, if they did trade for him, he's probably not even a replacement for Barnes as he is more of a WIL than SAM. But you probably aren't going to get a one for one replacement at this time.
Yeah, they’ll probably need to make a decision between an edge setter type and a more pure pass rush guy. In either case I don’t expect them to pay more than a mid-ish round pick for either. Zadarius Smith might be the one guy out there who’s a reasonable target that can give you both and not cost an arm and a leg.

Hell, you're not gonna get a one-for-one replacement for Hutch period. I don't care when you're trading. His closest analogue is probably Crosby, and even Maxx doesn't have as good of a run sealing element to his game (though their pass rush ability and endurance are reasonably close). Gotta realize, you're not just talking about an elite pass rusher and good run defender. You're also talking about a dude that can literally play damn near 60 minutes with only a couple snaps on the sideline.
I will say the one name that popped up that the last couple of days that made me go hmmmm was Harold Landry from the Titans. He’s not a big edge player, he’s more like Charles Harris (but good). Obvious ties to the Lions DL coach. But he has a bigger salary this year and next so it’s more of a commitment and would requires some cap finagling I’m sure. That departs from their “crush the pocket with big guys” philosophy for sure, but maybe worth it.

It's more than just Hutch, they also don't have Barnes and Davenport. If they still had those guys maybe you just find a stout run stopper at Hutch's position.
You definitely want to get someone but I think the panic you hear on the radio is people think they are playing with last year's secondary and so far that hasn't been the case. The safety play is so much better and they are much stickier in man coverage. The interior line has been working excellent as well. Even if they had Hutch the passing defense stats are going to look bad because nobody can run on them and they should be playing with a lead.

The Lions can take on most any contract in a trade, they are in great cap shape for at least a couple years. The Titans probably couldn't trade Landry. He is a 37 million dead cap hit on spot race and they have 13 million in available cap space. They would have to do corresponding moves to trade him which would probably drive the compensation of the trade sky high.
