  • As I Walk Through the Desert on a Lion with No Name: GBU Lions/Cardinals

Good: The First Half Offense. The defense really stepped up in a situation where I didn't believe they would. Yeah, Kyler was able to run around a little bit, but no defense is going to shut his legs down entirely. But the defense did finish the pressures for the most part, forcing errant throws into tight coverage.

Bad: The Second Half Offense. At some point this season, the Lions offense is going to have to score more than 20 points in regulation. There are times where Ben simply tries to get too cute, and it's not working. Another thing, I don't know how many times the Lions are going to run that spot throw to the short/intermediate middle of the field before Ben learns that defenses aren't going to let him have that play any more. At least a couple of Goff's picks this season are on those throws where the opposing defense has flooded the middle of the field specifically to take that play away.

Ugly: There's no ugly when you win on the road in the NFL.

    G:
    - Lions win.
    - DEFENSE.
    - Running game as a whole.
    - Punt God.

    B:
    - NFC North continues to be better than ever. … except maybe the Bears? lol at their season O/U.
    - Goff was off and on. Story would be different if the refs didn’t botch that pick/ fumble 6.

    U:
    - That refs blown call was so ugly. I will take it as a Lions fan, but objectively really ugly.
    - Barnes. Really great guy. Hope it’s not a season ending injury.

As far as the refs call at the two-minute warning is concerned, it was the correct call in a purely technical sense. The ball was not snapped by the time the clock hit two minutes, granted by hundredths of a second.

There's no way the refs intentionally made the right call there, but at least it was actually correct for once.

Offense is still lethargic in the 3rd quarter. Our biggest achilles’ heels until we figure it out

That's a big boy win, the defense smothered that team. The offensive issues will work itself out

Good - defense bottling up a scrambling QB
            Bad - Laporta getting hurt
            Ugly - none it's a road win

I loved seeing all the passes broken up. I was really worried about Branch there for a couple minutes.

I was watching from a bar so there was no audio, but in the play at the 2 minute warning, was there a whistle? Cuz half of the players sure did seem like they stopped before the int?

On Arnold’s PI call…looked like he was in position, had space, turned for the ball then got pancaked by the receiver. What’s he supposed to do in a situation like that?

Yes, there was a whistle that could barely be heard on the broadcast.

I'll say this as well, the Lions are 2-1 while playing nowhere near their best ball, especially on offense.

Didn’t Anzalone practice this week? I don’t understand how he can suffer a concussion one week, get ruled out for a concussion next week; but still be able to practice during the week. Are teams no contact during in-season weeks?

They’re 1-0 in games where they lost in yards, first downs, and TOP.

1-1 in games where they won in all those stats.

The offense may not look finely tuned yet, but I think that just points to how high the bar is now

Anzalone had one limited practice and wasn't out of concussion protocol. I don't think he had any contact in the practice.

As far as contact during the season, I believe there is a quota of how many times you can hit during the season

Hutch was tackled and held ALL game long but he was still a force

Branch is turning out to be the beast I thought he would be
                              A road win is great

                              Bad
                              play calling not to win
sorry Arnold you are having a rough start but you will
