  • Gameday! Back on Track or Panic Attack? Lions at Cardinals

Man, I know there are not many of us left, and maybe, just maybe the Same Ol' Lions doubts may be creeping back, but we didn't even have a game week thread. It's time to restore the Forum roar.

So here we are. Lions at Cardinals. Traditionally the Lions have not done well in the desert, but things are different now. Or are they?

Welcome to Arizona, Detroit Lions fans! You’ll know you made it once you step off the plane and all 110 degrees bend you over right there on the tarmac. At least, it’s a dry hump.

Maybe you noticed the sprawling tourist trap hole on your flight in? There’s another “grand” pit just north of here! But if you prefer your pits wet, there’s plenty to do when it cools off to boiling, between 3 and 3:15am. From nighttime cactus watching, to spotting blue-haired-magenta-skinned locals during the day, we have it all! A must-stop; the Tonto Basin, is where you can suffer heat stroke seconds before drowning! Bring non-flammable floaties, Kemosabe!

Brought the kids? Search for creepy aliens and UFOs at night or sleep in and see creepy aliens in cowboy hats at the Wal-Mart. Nature hikes are another family staple here. Try hunting for jewelry in the desert. That mafia informant’s skeleton doesn’t need that gold chain anymore. Or just sit in the shade of one of our two dead stumps and watch vultures eat rattlesnakes, eat scorpions, eat tarantulas.

If you’re in town just for the game, don’t let our scary mascot deter you. If you do see a cardinal, think of it as a lost pigeon radiated by the sun and years of nuclear testing. Fun fact: the distance from the sun to Arizona is the same distance from the airport to the stadium, exactly 500 miles for both.

An extra special welcome to Detroit running backs! You’ll find our border wall defensive line has plenty of accommodating gaps.

We’re proud to be a rest stop on the way to California, and just thrilled to be a speed bump on your way to New Orleans!

Last week I didn’t feel that good about the Lions chances of pulling off a win against Tampa. Tough matchup and Tampa was extra motivated but today I feel they match up better but you got to take in account Kyler’s mobile speed but they got to get back to what they are good at and that is running the football. I don’t want to see Goff drop back 55 times again.

The big X-factor, if you will, is going to be something that has traditionally been this defense's biggest Achilles' Heel. Mobile Quarterbacks.

When Baker Mayfield carves you up with his legs, that is not a good sign, and Murray is leagues more mobile and elusive than Mayfield. This could be a really long afternoon in the desert if they don't finish their pressures, which outside of Hutchinson, this D-Line has not been doing. I don't necessarily mean sacks, but actually disrupting the play rather than allowing the QB to slip contain, reset and make a play without a body in the way.

I suspect the Lions will get back to running the ball, but it's not going to be enough. The Lions O is going to continue to stumble in the red zone as the Cardinals' defense packs the middle of the field and dares Goff to beat them to the flats and sidelines... which he can't and won't do reliably.

I think we're going to be gnashing our teeth tonight as the Lions drop to 1-2. Arizona wins 31-24 as Kyler runs for over 100 yards on his own.

Eh, at this point I feel like the defense is what it’s always been, a defense that relies on individual talent more than scheme. Some of the pieces have improved, but its not a shutdown D.

I’m more interested in seeing if the offense can finally get on track. The last game felt like one of those games where Ben Johnson tried to outsmart the opposing defense instead of out executing them.

The defense has been fine - anybody expecting a dominant team on that side was wishcasting. Improvement to solid is what you want.

The offense and Goff iis what needs to get it sorted out. Nothing seems to be coming easy for them, outside of the couple of big plays to Jamo. This game is important because the Vikings are on the way to 3-0. Falling 2 full games behind early is not what you want.

I'm hoping the Lions can establish the run so that Goff can get on track. The passing game has been anemic

Yep especially when the Vikings are shutting out Houston who is seen as a championship contender and doing in dominant fashion

i don’t know that I was expecting a dominant D, I’m just saying that Aaron Glenn runs kind of a vanilla defense.

Also no GBU thread. Not the most active on those threads but found a bit strange.

About today, and as mentioned we have talent and we can beat any team in the league on "any given sunday".

I'm confident. Not the Same Ol' Lions for sure, we can go trough some bad games but pretty sure that we will have fun in the seasons to come.

                        EDIT: Go Lions!!!!!
