It's a blueprint that teams have had for a while. The issue was that there was very little defenses could do about it because the O-Line simply imposed their will.

I'm willing to chalk this up to the rust of simply not playing at all until tonight.

Part of that is probably rust. Part of it is that the Rams have been sitting defenders right in the middle of the field so that anyone trying to work in there is doubled by default.
