Tilting at windmills, because nobody in here said Sainristil should be picked in the 2nd round by the Lions, at least from what I saw. In fact most everybody expressly saying why they wouldn't pick him despite most liking him as a player.

He's also pretty much the same size as Tyrann Mathieu (but more athletic). Marcus Jones is recent pick that has been a good player for NE at about the same size. The fact that Sainristil is on the small side and yet will still almost certainly go on day 2 tells you he's pretty highly thought of.

My latest favorite Mock Draft. My post-combine mock :-)

      - Normally, I trade back out of 29, but I'm not passing on Powers-Johnson
      - If you haven't looked at Melton yet, you should. I'm not sure he's lasting to 61 at this point.
      - I am a big fan of Dorlus the player, big athlete that can play all along the line.
      - As many experts point out, WR on the second day has great value. Getting Jerry Rice's son at least gives this style points -- but he can play.
      - I have no idea how Goncalves would last to the 5th, so that's probably not realistic.
      - This mock hates all Kickers, btw. I'm probably over-rating Reichard at this point, but I don't care.
      - Erick All is my new favorite late-round pickup. Hard to go wrong with a blocking TE from Iowa.

The D+ of a grade for a kicker came directly from Dan Campbell himself
        F#*K OHIO!!!

          I guess that’s a technically true statement.

All looked like he was going to be a world beater. I’d def draft him

I guess in the 7th... sure, why not?

But there's a reason he wound up in Iowa, and a large part of that reason is that All was very quickly eclipsed and replaced by Loveland in Michigan.

Erick All has some talent, but was always injured. Huge durability question. Jim Harbaugh once said that All is the most talented TE in program history. Didn’t really ever show on the field with exception of that incredible TD vs Penn State in 2021. It turns out Colston Loveland clearly proved to be a better TE. I can’t really see any sense in the Lions going after All unless he can be stashed on the practice squad as a rookie. Very late draft choice or UDFA if anything. Especially with the Lions bringing back Brock Wright.

As for kicker… Harrison Mevis is a guy that stood out to me while casually watching a few Missouri games last season. Mevis will have to work on accuracy, but potentially has Justin Tucker range. The broadcast loved talking about Mevis in the Ohio State vs Missouri bowl game. Day 3 or UDFA hail mary-like option at kicker.
Will Reichard was indeed a weapon for Alabama in the Rose Bowl, but would likely cost the Lions a higher draft choice.

Loveland was a really good WR for Michigan but All was the complete package. The injury / surgery thing was straight from bizarro world but he ended up at the best university he could pick for TEs. All is a really good TE, I’d prob draft him a few rounds earlier than the 7th

I had completely forgotten that All was at UM, lol. I think that proves I'm not a UM slappy.

In the 7th, I'm just looking for a quality player who can be put on the practice squad as depth. At the end of last season, I think the Lions had a Craigslist listing for TEs. RB would probably make sense there, too -- if anyone knows a good hidden gem RB, pls share

Agree on Mevis. The accuracy issues probably keep him off the Lions radar.

Edit: All is mocked from as early as 4th to as late as early 7th. Not sure what to make of that. I agree that 7th seems late.

Mavis looks like a high school LB. A miniature Sebastian Janikowski if you will

I’ve come full circle to this idea… if you gave me one biased Wolverines fan Lions draft choice, it would be Zak Zinter. Day 2 maybe? Pick #61? Zinter was arguably the best player on Michigan last season. Leader of the OLine. He was so valuable as a team leader that the injury vs Ohio State created an euphoric-like atmosphere. Possibly giving the crowd and team enough juice to get the win.
Lions and Brad Holmes have drafted several injured players. Jameson Williams and Hendon Hooker being most notable. I’m not sure what the time table is for broken fibula surgery in late November, but the Lions could take their time with Zinter.
I would be in favor of the double dip at OLine too. Spitballing the idea of Zinter + a swing OT/ G. OLine needs to be strong long term with Goff.

Mentioned AJ Barner a while ago, but the Lions have since brought back Zylstra and Wright. TE seems like less of a need for a late round prospect.

One thing I kinda wanna push back on. EVERY QB wants a strong O-Line. It really doesn't matter who it is back there.

I think everyone is in on Zinter, its just how far he falls. If its to the 3rd its a hell yes

This theme is adjacent to every quarterback wanting weapons. It's really the key.yo a good offense: good line, good quarterback, good weapons. A three legged stool if you will.

I prefer more of a QB Jesus built offense. And I like to picture my QB Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt because it says, I want to be formal, but I'm here to party too.
