  • My gut says we go OL with the 29th pick. Finding eventual replacements for Decker and Ragnow are key. This draft will be fun. It is more interesting to me watching how this unfolds for other teams, especially in the first round.
    Got Kneecaps?

More likely is finding Sewalls replacement as he will most assuredly move to LT....Both guards arent spring chickens either so there is a need there also....Really I wouldnt mind a trade down at all and solidify the line that way.

      • I'm honestly fine with whatever Holmes/Campbell do. They've proven themselves. No one will be laughing at the Lions this year.

That’s basically where I’m at as well. I’ve changed my
mind 100 times in the last few months but OL or CB is where it’s going to be at BPA for the Lions.

I went to WR for a bit but considering what we already have we wouldn’t be able to do second contracts for everyone in the WR if they’re all awesome.

Stick to a dominant OL or an outside CB that we need.
          F#*K OHIO!!!

I would not be suprised to see a double dip on O-Line like say Barton and Kiran A. before Day 3 starts.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

            • If they get Barton, it most likely will have to be a trade up, lessening the odds of a double dip, IMO. But Barton is my #1 want in this draft, so I hope they do trade up.

              • I'd just rather they keep Sewell at RT and draft a LT. They use Sewell as a weapon at RT.

He definitely is locked in at RT. I’d do the same

                  • Yeah, I think drafting an OT means picking a guy to replace Decker on the left - Morgan, Penei’s cousin, Patrick Paul, those types of guys that have that potential.

                    • I'm not sure Decker is gone after next year. Of all the players that have gone through Detroit I don't remember a guy that committed to the franchise.

                      • Maybe - they are going to have to dole out a lot of money to Goff, Sun God, Sewell, McNeill and Hutch in the next couple of years. They need to get cheaper elsewhere. Maybe it won't be Decker, but if that's the case they should look to extend him and not let him test the market. Ragnow is certainly in line to be replaced in a year or two, so that's a place they'll likely save some money as well.

I read something about the center position recently that was pretty intriguing. Not my words but someone else’s. It basically broke down that the most important pieces to a successful OL worked from the outside in. The tackles being the best building blocks and how RT was devalued for years but it’s now just as important as the LT position. The guards being the next building blocks and the center in last place.

It had a good argument that as long as the center was on the average spectrum that’s all you need. The problems come into play when the center is a train wreck or below average (Dom Raiola) which will drag the whole line down with it

                          • I personally like having a legit pro bowl center but the OL really became boss when they scored great bookend tackles.

I dont remember which game it was last year, but it was one where Ragnow was out and the OL was clearly not the same.....It would be nice t okeep Penei at RT but he is going to be making huge money for that position when he gets his new deal...He will most likely be paid in the top 3 LTs in the league...Im just not sure they want to pay both tackles that kind of money.....I read somewhere that Decker is due almost 20M this year and is up for another contract...Unless he is willing to take much less, the team may not have a choice but to draft a tackle as his replacement.

                              • Ragnow is almost irreplaceable.
the next guy will have huge shoes to fill. No pun intended
