  • Mlive scanned the various mock drafts and evaluated each of the various players projected to the Lions:

The meaty first week of free agency is in the books, so let's look to the mock drafts from the last week and see what's changed for the Lions.

    • Hate that mock. Give up the 29 AND both 3s to move up 11 spots?
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

We traded pick 92 (the late 3rd rounder) in the Davis deal. So, he's trading 29 & 73 for 18, which draft value-wise favors the Lions a little.

I'd rather have the two top 100 picks, but if you think Verse is the next great edge -- and some do -- then I can understand the appeal.

Me too. Holmes has done a damned good job of stocking the team to not have any real holes. Now it’s time to find the splash players. DE would be a position I have no problem trading up for. You can add CB and LT to that mix as well.

This is win now mode. Get Ragnow’s replacement next season. Same with OG in the first round. We’ve gotten lucky the last 2 years that we didn’t lose Ben Jonson. If our offense is still one or the top in the NFL he won’t be here in 2025.
          F#*K OHIO!!!

          • Just draft our long snapper of the future and I'll be happy.

              • LOL, amazing how people don't listen to anything Homes says. He's been telling you his plan out loud since he got here. There's no "win now mode" with him.

                • After FA Holmes is once again positioned to pretty much do whatever he wants at 29. So who knows what that will be, but I do think there are a handful of guys that would seem to be no-brainers fits if they slipped to 29 (or possibly if Holmes moves up a bit):

                  Jared Verse
                  Cooper Dejean
                  Kool-Aid Mckinstry
                  Jackon Powers-Johnson
                  Taliese Fuaga

There is certainly a very realistic world in which all of those players are off the board before 29, in but if any are around, I’d be surprised if the Lions passed.

                  • Can’t see Powers dropping that far. Verse would be great opposite Hutch but the player I like the most that will never happen is Olu Fashanu. I’d trade our top 3 picks for him.

                    • If Holmes only has a set number of guys graded as a 1st RD talent, no doubt we could see a trade up. Depends on how the draft plays out. Didn’t he say there were only 14 1st RD graded players last year? Just make sure he doesn’t have a back injury because trading up for Onwuzurike would have been a disaster. Possibly no McNeill, St. Brown, or Barnes…

or trade the top 3 picks + next year’s 1st for MHJ or Nabers. (See Falcons-Julio Jones trade)
Imagine the recklessness and fun of the hypothetical. Nabers added to this offense? MORE WEAPONZ. Only kidding…

I would 100% make that trade for Harrison. Our offense would be impossible to stop. Ben Johnson would mess with opposing defenses to where you’d almost feel sorry for them.

It really sucks because he could have fallen into the CB2 role perfectly.

                            • Let’s just hope that one of the top 100 picks is CB. Then you still have Adoree Jackson, Stephon Gilmore, Patrick Peterson, and perhaps others out there as an option too.

I feel like the Kylo Ren ‘more’ meme. Just keep throwing resources at outside CB until it’s fixed. Big team achilles heel with exception of Dre Bly, Darius Slay and one good Chris Houston season for decades.
