You can refer to a post game comment in one these threads, there is bound to be one from you. I'll shut up about this point if you can show me that

    • I think he is still burnt by a decision he made last year where he went for a long field when he was up 3 iirc (Vikings I think) and the kicker missed it...He said he hated the decision and wasnt going to do that again....The problem is you cant give up 34 points in the playoffs and win consistently...if KC gave up 34 today they'd be staying home also...Some of those 34 were bad luck (fumble, pass doinking off the DBs helmet for 51 yard gain), but in the end the defense isnt good enough.

The defense needs to improve, but it play well enough to win provided they don't cough up the ball. I'm pretty sure 4 of their 6 losses had a lost fumble inside their own 30 that resulted in a TD.

Yes, we all need to document everything on this forum so The Great Froot Loops can see whether or not we're worthy of disagreeing with him.

Newsflash: Not everyone posts everything they agree or disagree with on this forum about every play in every game.

Your premise is bullshit. You act like it's fact. It's not.

And I've broken my own rule again. I'm done with you and your passive/aggressive garbage.

That kind of thinking is going to lead to problems. Why?
Lions actually punched above the averages this year in terms of 4th down conversion - what you saw this year is probably as good as it ever will be.
It's like the batter who has a ridiculously high BABIP (Batting Average Balls in Play) - it's not sustainable - he will regress to the mean.

That is independent on whether they fix/improve the defense.

            • Basically your context is if the play worked then you say nothing about going for it on 4th down. If it it fails you complain about it. That's the context. Maybe they hire a coach who goes back to making safe decisions like Jim Caldwell. That guy always made the safe decision.

Did they punch above it? The analytic guys love Campbell because he is the closest coach to getting to their models but their models are even more aggressive than he is. Maybe those models are bunk, but I'm not sure. I don't think they are going to fake punt much more.

Again, I ask for the context on the Reynolds and LaPorta TDs in the last two playoff games. He declined the field goal in close games to go for the touchdown. What is the context that was different. In those games the defenses were a little better than the Niners were.

Why don't you go out and gamble your house on the NFL every week? Because you're not stupid, right? There's intelligent gambling and reckless gambling. When the other team scores 20 straight points on you and you have a chance to kick a 46 yard FG to re-tie the game (that any competent FG kicker should make), you do it.

                      It was stupid.
Agree. That being said you take the good with the bad and Campbell is still a great coach. I would have kicked a FG but don't don't have an issue with Campbell going for it. That's his nature. I knew he would.

"Fuck, that was a very winnable game and nobody knows if they are gonna be back. I’m just glad I’m not a kid like I was during the 90s. I’d be comatose after a game like this."

                        • "Good: It was a good playoff run and great season.

Bad: That 4th down drop by Reynolds was the turning point. Not saying everything was his fault, but that started the slide. Then the damn broke with the Gibb's fumble.

Ugly: Just not enough athleticism on defense. The long Aiyuk reception told the tale: off our guy's hands and facemask while Debo tracks it down to make an amazing catch. Also telling the tale is their consistent inability to take the QB down even when the pressure gets home."

This is one I really disagreed with. I wanted the FG but knew Campbell would go for it. I was just hoping for the best and it didn't happen.
