To the current lions fans, Deb and all the others before me and I go back to the freep days. I have enjoyed this place immensely thank you Deb for the years of service and thanks to all you guys for giving me memories..

This year is special and 91 team was all I had to remember.(1974-1990 were too hit and miss)
2024. Hopefully it’s the start of a new tradition —-continuous winning Lions football. Happy new year guys.

I've actually been here since 2008, originally as "Alpha Lion". My avatar was a 49ers 1957 championship game ticket that they printed at halftime up 24-7, which became 27-7, and the Lions pulled off what still stands to this day as the biggest road playoff comeback win. Now we are @SF for the penultimate game and might earn the right to face the Ravens, the same franchise we played 4 championship games against.

On that account I "predicted" 0-16, it's somewhere, I think in the pick-the-games thread. Just picked L for every week. And when it happened, shit, I couldn't find the motivation to log in. Forgot the password, forgot the email, just said fuck it I'll start over.

But I've been a fan of this team and no other, and that began in 1995. By 1997 I was old enough to understand what was happening and I watched every game I could, which wasn't many in SoCal. After Gary Moeller, our "winningest coach" in decades went 4-3 as an interim, I needed to see every game. So ever since Day 1 of the decade of pain orchestrated by he who shall not be named, I've more or less not missed a single game. I missed a lot of games in 2004 due to personal issues, and in 2020 I succumbed to FMP's super power ability of sucking the life out of everyone, and so in 2020 I checked out after the week 1 collapse vs Chicago. The only other game I watched that year was Thanksgiving vs Houston, which of course was the beginning of the end of the curse hanging over this team.

But otherwise I've been here with y'all for all the pain, all the SoL, and now, finally, we have the Brand New Lions!
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

I moved from Michigan to Colorado in 1994 and getting Lions news was almost impossible. I remember going to a bookstore to get the Detroit News when they brought one in every once in a while. As the Web started getting decent, I read Freep.com almost every day. Finding the link to the forum felt like striking gold.

Deb, I know you remember the guy who’d always text scream at one of the forumites to pay up on a lost bet. And the Bucs fan who got every detail wrong in his posts was so freaking funny.

Being able to share this run with everyone here is special. We’ve endured a lot of awful football. And NBT’s excitement and positivity is a turnaround for the ages.

            Remember PCDave?

And I remember the guy who threatened a few of us personally. I think he was in the U.P. and named Dom? What a twat waffle.

There have been some great posters through the years. I think we lost a few in the move from the Freep and World Crossing. Karl Childers was another one.

aw man, I forgot about Karl, he was awesome! I vaguely remember PC Dave. Lots of fond memories of the old World Crossing gang, hope they are all enjoying this run as much as we are.

PC Dave's avatar was a picture of him(?) wearing a Lions hard hat.

I don't remember for sure but I think something pissed him off and he posted a rant and left?

I wonder how Rommy is doing? Larsky?

Man, back when we had dial up internet it would piss me off to no end when I would wait, and wait, and wait, for a page to load.. tick... tick...tick...tick...only for a post to be Rommy and DWT flirting. Ha!

In the early days, it seemed to me that the forum was pretty IT nerd heavy, possibly because they had the faster internet?

Larsky is on Facebook and he posts here once in a great while. I'll always appreciate his Forum Awards Show, he put a lot of effort into that. Wish we had a copy of it.

I've emailed Rommy many times to no avail.

I think you summed it up when you were unable to get into the forum for a few days and when you got back in you said that you felt as if you lost an old friend..

I come here every day to "talk" to my friends. Ha!
