I read the title and not much more. I love Goff but that just can’t be true

In total Goff has thrown for 554 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on deep balls. That's third in yards, fifth in touchdowns and tied with a ton of guys at fifth in interceptions.#birdsarentreal

Some great comments in this thread...Obviously a strong point for discussion
Pros:
The team has been winning at a great clip (like 16 of last 21 or something like that)
Goff has been in top 10 of all QBs the last year and a half
Look around the league at some of the starting QBs...Many are way inferior to Goff
Seems a perfect fit for what Ben Johnson wants to do...precise timing and accurate
Cons:
Not very mobile but does a decent job of getting rid of the ball under pressure
Very dependant on a solid OL, needs alot of pieces around him to succeed
Not a great deep thrower, average arm strength
How good is he without Ben Johnson as coordinator? Will he suffer a setback if Ben leaves?
Conclusion: Im not sure the Lions really have much of a choice....They wont know much about Hooker until next year, will really be his rookie year and he isnt much younger than Goff....If they pay Goff then they will have to let a couple of players walk when their contracts are up.....We've talked about whether Jonah Jackson should get a big contract or not....Penei and St Brown are no brainers, the team has to pay them....Brad has done a great job of not overpaying so far.

You pay Goff. I am sure he wants to be there and Detroit wants him here and both are aware of what he needs to be successful. I am confident there is a number that rewards Goff but allows the Lions to sign who they need to long term as well.
Long term.. .I think Decker is the guy that might be looking at not getting a new contract. Because of that I can see OT being high on the needs list in the draft maybe even first round.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

Goff is a weird one. 1st overall pick who is a semi statue in the pocket ... yet doesn't have a strong frame or particularly strong arm. Seems smart tho, and accurate with time to throwWHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

If he gets butthurt about the lack of an extension and becomes a malcontent then obviously he doesn't fit the "culture" and they should let him walk...Apathetic No More.
