For the record. JimmyG looked bad and made it 3 games in before he injured again. They replaced him with O'Connell yesterday, who wasn't ready for prime time

Don't you know froot? Great Quarterbacks are cheap and plentiful.

The Broncos have had terrible quarterback play with a good team ever since Manning retired. They traded for Russ and paid him a king's ransom and the dude is washed. But yeah, just let him go and you will easily replace him.

The Lions may very well replace Goff with Hooker... but that's two or three years down the road if that happens.

I hate to jinx it, but availability is one of the most important QB abilities and Goff is at the top of the league with that. He's not only a pocket passer, but he has good pocket awareness and escapability. There are QBs whose availability by the playoffs is always a dice-roll.

Going back to my original post. There are Mahomes, Allen & Burrow and then about 10 guys in the next two tiers. Goff gives you as good a chance of winning the Superbowl after the top 3 once you properly factor in availability. That means he gets a contract that at first will pay him top-5 money but be passed by other QBs and be more like top-15 when it expires.

and I know that Foot was trying to taunt me with Mayfield and Watson references....but both of those cats are playing pretty good ball right now.

FTR...Mayfield has a higher QBR, less ints, and more TDs than Goff right now with the same record.

              Just sayin'

He's still under contract for next year. It's too early to really even be talking about this. Mainly due to how they finish this season likely having a large effect on what he's offered.

Mayfield has only played against one team that is worth a shit though and he didn't play well in that game.

I went from calling him a Gawful Goof to being a Goffaholic. Let's just hope we don't lose our Goffensive coordinator.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

The reason the taunts land is you have always maintained he is replaceable and for cheap and the players you have named over the years have not shown that they could replace him and they have not been good. Mayfield has had a couple decent games, he also is on his fourth team. Why is that?

They are going to lose him. But you have to have confidence Campbell can adequately replace him. OCs are.much easier to reply than QBs.

Some of this speculation is warranted because there are reports the Lions are trying to get an extension. Between now and the end of the league year.is when stuff like this happens. They don't want to go into the final season without an extension is they can help it

Exactly. Its not good for the player or the team. Its bad optics for both and causes distractions

I would be horrified if they replaced Goff with someone like Mayfield.

No way that would happen. Holmes wouldn’t let the Lions go backward
