  • If every QB listed above had the same roster/coaching staff, which one would be most likely to win a SB?
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

    • Futureshock (RIP) always used to talk of a QB Jesus complex and that’s what I think I had.

I saw all these cannon armed gunslingers scrambling around making crazy plays in the AFC and thought we’d be left behind, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Goff isn’t making flashy plays but he’s generally making good decisions and keeping ahead of the sticks. In my head “game manager” type QB was one paced who had to lean on run game and could only really play one way (from a lead) but Goff can score and quickly.

      I’m happy with him.

      • Goff has turned into such a mentally tough looking QB. He’s playing lights out. Even when Decker almost got hI’m killed from a blindside hit last game he popped back up and kept making Carolina pay.

We’re all talking about “do we want him”. I just hope “he wants to resign with us”.

On top of that, who’s going to be BJ’s replacement (I can’t keep typing out Ben Johnson’s name in fear of dick jokes instead of BJ. I’m just going to have put it out there and get it over with)
        F#*K OHIO!!!

        • I thought they were looking at the TE coach Tanner Engstrand, but I could be wrong.

Interesting. I didn’t even know who that is. Seems he’s the passing game coordinator this year.

from an interview with St Brown

We know that St. Brown is a huge fan of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, but many of us can see the writing on the wall with him. At some point, he’s going to get his shot at a head coaching gig. So we asked St. Brown about the man who appears to be Johnson’s potential successor, passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand.

“I love Tanner,” St. Brown said. “He’s an awesome guy, awesome coach. He really understands football, he understands the pass game. He’s super detailed when he coaches. He goes through film with us a lot during the season with the wideouts and the tight ends and whatnot.”

            • Goff is leading the league in 20-yard passes

What keeps impressing me, as we've gone from Stafford to Goff, is how important and how difficult it is to properly execute play-action. Stafford fools no-one when he pretends to hand-off. You can see the opposing LBs and safeties hesitate and even approach the LOS every time Goff goes to hand the ball off. A couple seconds later, Goff is firing a bullet into the seam that that hesitation created to an open receiver.

We have the best balanced run-pass team in the league because of Goff.

You’re not wrong but Stafford maybe had 1 full year of a good running game his entire career. Even in LA they completely suck. Stafford has always been screwed there

Goff has had a great OL and good RBs

                • I think 1 QB embraces it the other doesn’t. The offense is going to be built around the strength of the QB

                  • You’re telling me Stafford didn’t want a run game? I find that absurd

                          • As I recall, Stafford has been one of the best out of play action over the last few years.

I think there is still a part of us that wonders how much of the success is Goff and how much of it is Ben Johnson?.....When Ben J leaves, and GOff has to deal with a lesser coordinator most likely, will he still be just as good? WHo knows?

I think we’re all kind of in that boat but BJ isn’t making the reads at the line, taking the hits and making all the clutch throws. At some point it’s Goff’s credit not everyone else’s
