  • Also, it shows how little Christie knows about Dan Campbell. He calls him low class or no class, what's he talking about? I've been watching football for a long time and Campbell is one of the most even keel, accountable coaches I've seen. Most of the time the NFL coaches are insecure little Napoleons. His players will run through a wall for him. The Lions pulled their starters really early, they could have put 60 on them if they wanted to.

    • Look what happened to the Colts a couple years ago losing to the Vikings with like a 33 point lead.
Ya never know especially playing on the road.

      • I was bummed they wasted some of those plays when the game was out of hand, but maybe they saw an opportunity to throw them on film to give the opposing DCs more to think about.

They asked Ben Johnson if he was concerned about showing so many trick plays and he said that the well is deep. Ha!

          • I really only count 2 trick plays. The flea flicker and the hook and ladder to Sewell, the rest were tackle eligible stuff which is just part of their offense. Maybe I'm missing one The rubbing it in part was they were declaring lineman it seems like nearly every series and it didn't stop in garbage time and that shithousery was directed at the refs and the league.

As it was the refs were still slanting the game towards the Cowboys. That Patrick catch was pure interference and they didn't throw the flag. The Sewell play seemed highly ticky-tack and one of those things where the refs will call stuff to prove a point.

All of this complaining is really that they got their ass kicked and didn't want any part of the Lions in the second half. If you want to see running it up, look at old games tapes of Spurrier at Fla or that current coach at Indiana.

Yep. Now teams at least have to have the idea of keeping an eye on the Lions tackles on screen plays. There comes a point for any DC where if you have to plan for pretty much anyone on the offense potentially getting the ball, you effectively have no plan. There's simply no way to keep eyes on everyone.

              • I think a lot of the trick plays are just simply that the Lions are executing so well in practice and know the system so well that they have more time than other teams. The Browns can't afford to waste valuable practice time on gimmicks when they don't even have the basics down.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

                • And let's be clear, that Penei Sewell lateral play is just the players drawing shit up to get a big man touchdown. This is something that isn't drilled all that much.

The hook and ladder to Sewell was developed because Sewell is typically in that area on that play so they added the lateral to him. The Patrick non-interference call really pissed me off and showed the obvious bias toward the Cowboys.
                    GO LIONS "24" !!

                    • Well, as I said, when in Dallas, ya gotta win by 7 to win by 3.

Or in the Lions case, ya gotta win by 41 to win by 38.

I heard Belichick claimed that FMP laid the groundwork for the current team. Wouldn't be shocked if FMP had a similar delusion.

Pride of Detroit did an article earlier this year showing that there are maybe 3-4 players left from the Matt Patricia era, mostly from our offensive line (Decker, Ragnow, and Glasgow), along with JRM, our punter, and Ben Johnson and Hank Fraley from the coaching side.

Bob Quinn knows how to draft offensive linemen, but overall, his drafts were typically mediocre, unlike our Draft rock star in current Lions GM Brad Holmes
