Back in December 2020-January 2021, I will admit that the idea of hiring Dan Campbell seemed questionable to me. His introductory press conference blew me away though and swayed some of my prior thoughts. Lions made the right choice and we’re all happy to have him!
Recall Cowherd also being a skeptic at the time and loving the Urban Meyer to Jacksonville hire. Glad to see he’s on the bandwagon.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Jermar Jefferson is the only Brad Holmes draft choice to be off the roster. Injuries in camp hurt Jefferson’s opportunity to make the roster.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeillComment

The one thing to remember is nobody knows shit about who is going to be a good coach and who is going to be a bad coach. Especially for guys getting a HC job for the first time. It's mostly guesswork.
The secret sauce is it seems like both Holmes and Campbell have the same vision and that shows with the drafts so far. You can be the best evaluator around, but if you draft a guy who doesn't fit the scheme the coach is running, it's a wasted pick.Comment

I really wonder if Fatty Matty Patty was the reason we got MCDC. We had Gym Shorts, loud-mouthed defensive guy. Then we go to Caldwell, soft-spoken offensive guy. So when we fire the rocket scientist with zero emotional intelligence, a guy with the charisma of a Taco Bell toilet and Joey Harrington levels of locker room respect, the formula tells us to get a guy like Campbell."Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go.
