What about the Stones? Were they influenced by the Beatles? The Who? Early Peter Gabriel Genesis? I don't think any of these bands songs were derived from any Beatles stuff...., and all roughly around the same time.
But seriously, if you read what I've said, I'm not questioning their talent, I'm just saying that they will be infinitely over-rated. I mean Nirvana changed music fucking completely early 90"s, yet they don't get much mention at all these days.

What about the Stones? Were they influenced by the Beatles? Somewhat. At least some of their albums had Beatles albums in mind. The Who?
Townshend complimented one of The Beatles' songs: "I think "Eleanor Rigby" was a very important musical move forward. It certainly inspired me to write and listen to things in that vein."
Early Peter Gabriel Genesis? Not sure but he did cover Strawberry Fields in 1975. Genesis was pretty obscure back then as well. I don't think any of these bands songs were derived from any Beatles stuff...., and all roughly around the same time.
But seriously, if you read what I've said, I'm not questioning their talent, I'm just saying that they will be infinitely over-rated. I mean Nirvana was among a group of bands that changed music fucking completely early 90"s, yet they don't get much mention in Scotland at all these days.
Made some notes.
Also, here's a quote I found from your boy:
From an interview with Noel Gallagher of Oasis:
QUESTION: I was interested in knowing why you consider "Helter Skelter" the beginning of the punk movement?
GALLAGHER: Because it was exactly a year after that, that the Stooges and the MC5 came out. In 1969. "Helter Skelter" was recorded at the back end of 1967, and that was the first. If you listen to "Helter Skelter" and listen to the MC5 and the Stooges, it's that sound. They sound exactly like that record. That song, the way it's played, is the birth of punk rock as we know it.
If they influenced Punk rock, they also influenced Nirvana.
It seems obvious that a bright if somewhat shy lad like Peter Gabriel tried to escape this strictly authoritarian, caning atmosphere that did not endorse emotions. The music was to be his means of escape. After a brief career as a hippie hat maker he became the drummer in several bands at school. At the school piano he began to turn his re-kindled interest in The Beatles and soul music into his own songs with Tony Banks.
English Website of the German Genesis Fanclub it with news,
interviews, reviews, articles tourdates and much more about
Genesis and its members, such as Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Peter
Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips and Ray
Wilson. Further members of the Genesis Family include Tony
Levin, David Rhodes, John Hackett, Nick Magnus, Daryl Stuermer,
Chester Thompson, Simon Collins, The Musical Box, Martin Levac.
Well I asked......., you did some serious homework......, and you did very well indeed, and came up with all of the stuff i asked....., I applaud you.
Summing up......, maybe I can just take or leave the Beatles. Apologies for fucking up the death thread.

Yeah I know......, it was my British sarcasm. Doesn't go over too well on here!

Nirvana saved us from the bullshit that was being put out. I remember when I first saw the video (YES MTV ONCE PLAYED MUSIC!!) Smells Line Teen Spirit..
Game changer.

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

SLTS is an awesome song. It opens with that riff and then a wall of noise slams you in an awesome way.
Never heard it described like that, but ok. You should get a job writing for Kerrang knob cheese.
