  • First Epstein from "Welcome back Kotter" and now Whitney...

BTW, I didn't know she was so connected before she hit it big.

Born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, to gospel great Cissy Houston, cousin to both Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick and goddaughter to Aretha Franklin, Houston's upbringing was the embodiment of musical greatness.
She honed her vocal skills from a young age, singing in the church choir and taking the stage occasionally with her mother. As a teenager, she sang backup for Chaka Khan on "I'm Every Woman," a song Houston would re-record in 1992 and that would go on to become one of her biggest hits.

    • Warner bros are to make one more film with Whitney Houston......., it's going to be called "The Bodybag"......., can't see it being as successful as the previous big film.

      • I blame Bobby Brown. That man killed Whitney. He might as well have put a gun to her head. That ass got her hooked, and obviously, she had an addictive personality. All of that wanting to meet the expectations of her famous family and friends made her that way. She wanted to make her crack-pushing, asshole boyfriend/husband happy. In the end, it killed her, even though she had finally sloughed off her demons. Crack is a terrible drug on the body; it wreaks havoc on the heart and lungs. To be honest, I had expected her to die of an overdose for years now. Too bad this happened just after she got clean.

          • 48 .... way too young. Yet, I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who choose a lifestyle that leads to nothing but destruction. It's a widely known fact that drugs and the music industry go hand in hand, yet too many really talented people allow themselves to become a victim of their circumstances. The list of musicians who have taken this road is long and wide. "If there's a rock and roll heaven, you know have one hell of a band."

It is awful watching someone who you know is headed for a crash landing. Unfortunately, I've seen it a few times myself including with my mother. It's the most helpless feeling! You are watching a person do all kinds of behaviours that you just know would be most logical to say, just stop doing these things, and yet the person just can't stop doing them. And anyone who has experienced this knows that often, the person hits a point where all you can do is sit back, and wait for the crash, you just can't stop it.

Nobody is to blame except Whitney. They lived a lifestyle and it one one that she was attracted to. BB didn't make her do anything.....didn't strap her down and shove it up her nose (or the pipe in her mouth). We all have choices to make....and she made hers.

Seems like everytime the world loses a talent, people want to point the finger at someone........if it wasn't for this person/that person we'd still have this amazing talent. People fingered Courtney Love for putting the shotgun in Cobain's mouth.

That's not the way it works.....we walk down our own road. Along the way we come to many forks in that road and unfortunately we all have to say goodbye to people who took the wrong path......many times we get to watch their path lead on a downward spiral and wonder how close we actually were to following down the path they chose.

The most talented people in this life are many times the most troubled.

RIP Whitney......but it's no one's fault but your own.

                    • Maybe Eric Clapton will sing "Cocaine" for her tonight at the grammys.

Seriously, she had great talent, really underutilized the past 10 years or so. I hate when people who do dumb things are idolized. I know I sound kind of harsh here, but I do fell sorry for her friends and family, who probably knew this day would arrive and couldn't stop it. Guilt is a terrible feeling, whether real or imagined.

I appreciated her talent but never liked any of her songs either.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Ashley died Sunday evening, two days after she was hospitalized in Oklahoma with a stroke or brain aneurism.
Ashley gave birth to their second child four months ago.
Harris spent the 2011 season with the Chargers after playing from 2004 to 2010 with the Bears.
