I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

Ditto. I'm a sixty-something who spends his days in rooms full of teenagers. When the kids talk about "pop culture," I'm about as clueless as a eunuch at a porn shoot.

                • she was an incredible talent, and her sound was jazzy and soulful - it makes you feel like you were transported back in time to a speak easy. Even my husband, who has no interest in female musicians, was instantly blown away by her sound. For those of you who have never heard her music, just listen to a few bars before you condemn her talent. An absolute train wreck, but what a voice!

I agree. I am sad to see her go. What a waste of a life and incredible talent.

                    • Ya, "Back to Black" is a classic album. From the first track to the last it's epic. She could sing with the best of them. It's a shame because I was hoping she would get her shit together and get sober. It's not surprising to anyone who followed her that she died.

It's funny because I just read a little blurb on her in Time about a week ago. She was in Serbia and said "Hello, Athens" to the crowd. The pic they showed of her was evidence she was using. I remember reading that and thinking "here we go again." She was sober for a short period of time. She actually looked pretty healthy a few months back. Heroin, crack, booze, you name it. The autopsy will be interesting. I'm sure she had a concoction of different drugs in her system.

Here's her Grammy performance. She killed it. From about the 4:15 to 6:00 min mark tells you all you need to know about her talent.

                        • For anyone interested, she has a DVD taping of a live performance. I remember watching it a few years ago. I would strongly suggest to pick up her album "Back to Black." If people haven't heard it, you should.

Here's another good one. It's amazing that voice came from a skinny little Jewish girl.

I had almost no knowledge of her music but was very aware of the deep trouble she was in.
